Golf Chef information

What is a golf chef?

A Golf Chef is a culinary professional responsible for preparing and overseeing the food and beverage offerings at golf clubs, golf resorts, or golf courses. Their role involves creating menus that cater to golfers and guests, managing kitchen staff, and ensuring high standards of food quality and safety. Golf Chefs may also plan special events, work within a set budget, and accommodate dietary restrictions. Their work helps enhance the overall experience for club members and visitors.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a golf chef?

To thrive as a Golf Chef, you need culinary expertise, menu planning skills, and experience in high-volume food preparation, typically supported by a culinary degree or relevant certifications. Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment, food safety regulations, and inventory management systems is essential. Strong leadership, creativity, and excellent communication help you deliver exceptional dining experiences and coordinate with both kitchen staff and club management. These skills ensure high-quality cuisine, operational efficiency, and member satisfaction in a golf club setting.

What are the primary challenges a golf chef faces in planning menus for club events and tournaments?

Golf Chefs often need to create diverse and appealing menus that cater to a wide range of member preferences and dietary needs, especially during club events and tournaments with large guest lists. Balancing creativity with consistency and cost-effectiveness is key, as events may require upscale, themed, or seasonal offerings. Additionally, Golf Chefs must coordinate closely with event planners, front-of-house staff, and suppliers to ensure seamless execution and high-quality service, even under tight timelines or changing guest counts.

Job description

Banquet Chef

Trump National Golf Club Washington D.C. is one of the premier private golf clubs on the East Coast, set along the Potomac River in Sterling, Virginia. Our club is defined by an unwavering commitment to excellence — in our grounds, our cuisine, and the experiences we create for every member and guest who walks through our doors. We are proud of a culture built on professionalism, pride of craft, and genuine hospitality.

We are seeking a Banquet Chef to join our team. The Banquet Chef leads the culinary execution of all private events, member celebrations, and banquet functions at Trump National Golf Club Washington D.C. From intimate dinners to large-scale galas, you will be responsible for producing exceptional cuisine that reflects the prestige of our club and exceeds the expectations of our discerning membership. Success in this role means flawless execution, a motivated kitchen team, and food that becomes the centerpiece of every event.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, and execute all banquet and event menus in coordination with the Executive Chef and F&B leadership.

  • Oversee banquet kitchen staff, including scheduling, training, and daily supervision during events.

  • Collaborate with the events and catering team to understand member and guest requirements for each function.

  • Ensure all food is prepared, plated, and presented to the club's standards of quality and consistency.

  • Manage food costs, minimize waste, and maintain accurate inventory for banquet operations.

  • Uphold all food safety, sanitation, and health code standards at all times.

Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of culinary experience in a banquet, hotel, country club, or upscale hospitality environment.

  • Prior supervisory or lead cook experience required.

  • Culinary degree or equivalent professional training preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of food safety practices and ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain).

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the event calendar.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen with composure and precision.

  • Must be able to work a minimum of (50) hours per week base on business demand
Benefits
  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.

  • Paid time off and holiday pay.

  • Employee dining and club privileges.

  • Opportunity to work at one of the most prestigious golf clubs on the East Coast.

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.
