Global Supplier Quality & Development Manager

JOB SUMMARY

The Global Supplier Quality & Development Manager is responsible for leading the global supplier quality strategy and driving supplier performance improvement across quality, cost, delivery, and lead time. This role partners closely with Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, and key suppliers to enhance supplier capability, reduce risk, and enable sustainable operational excellence.

The position requires strong leadership, technical acumen, and hands-on experience in supplier development, continuous improvement, and cost optimization within a global manufacturing environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Global Strategy & Governance

  • Develop and implement the global supplier quality and development strategy aligned with company objectives
  • Define and standardize global supplier qualification, audit, and performance monitoring frameworks.
  • Establish enterprise-level policies, procedures, and governance models for supplier quality and development.
  • Provide functional guidance and alignment across regions while enabling local execution.
  • Lead global KPI structure and reporting cadence for supplier performance.

Supplier Quality Leadership

  • Support regional teams in conducting supplier audits (QMS, process, and technical capability assessments).
  • Ensure consistent application of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action (CAPA) methodologies.
  • Promote adherence to company quality standards and applicable industry requirements.
  • Serve as escalation point for critical supplier quality issues requiring enterprise visibility.

Supplier Development & Capability Building

  • Partner with strategic suppliers to strengthen process capability, quality systems, and operational performance.
  • Champion supplier improvement initiatives focused on:
  • Reducing defect rates and non-conformance
  • Improving on-time delivery
  • Enhancing process stability and repeatability
  • Support the deployment of Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Oversee development of standardized supplier scorecards and performance dashboards.

Cost Reduction & Lead Time Optimization

  • Collaborate with Procurement, Engineering, and regional Supplier Development leaders to identify cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Enable value engineering and design-for-manufacturability initiatives. 
  • Support alternate sourcing and supplier localization strategies.
  • Drive structured lead time reduction initiatives through process mapping, bottleneck identification, and capacity assessment.
  • Provide visibility to executive leadership on cost, lead time, and risk trends.

Enterprise Supplier Risk & Performance Management

  • Establish and maintain a global supplier risk management framework.
  • Define enterprise-level KPIs for quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness.
  • Implement standardized supplier performance review processes across regions.
  • Monitor supply risk trends and coordinate mitigation strategies with regional teams.
  • Lead containment strategy alignment for high-impact supplier disruptions.
  • Provide executive-level reporting and insights on supplier health and risk exposure.

New Product & Technology Readiness

  • Align early supplier engagement strategies for New Product Introduction (NPI) programs.
  • Ensure consistent APQP and PPAP governance standards across regions.
  • Support assessment of supplier readiness for new technologies and complex components.
  • Promote proactive risk mitigation planning for product launches.

Leadership & Global Collaboration

  • Provide functional leadership to global Supplier Quality and Development teams.
  • Foster knowledge sharing and best-practice standardization across regions.
  • Work cross-functionally with:
  • Global Supply Chain
  • Engineering
  • Manufacturing
  • Operations
  • Represent the Supplier Quality & Development function in executive reviews and strategic planning sessions. 
  • Build organizational capability through coaching, alignment, and continuous improvement.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline (Master's preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in Supplier Quality, Supplier Development, or global manufacturing environment.
  • Previous oil & gas industry experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience leading managers and senior professionals across multi-site or global operations.
  • Proven experience defining and implementing enterprise-level supplier quality governance frameworks.
  • Experience driving organizational and process transformation initiatives in complex environments.
  • Strong background in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, and APQP / PPAP methodologies.
  • Demonstrated success delivering measurable improvements in quality, cost, and lead time at enterprise scale.
  • Experience developing supplier risk management and performance governance models.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence executive leadership and align cross-functional stakeholders.
