This position offers a flexible remote work setting, allowing you to deliver essential mental health services from the comfort of your home while remaining connected with our outpatient office in Lowell. You will be part of a supportive and professional network, collaborating via telehealth platforms for therapy sessions, case discussions, and team meetings. Regular working hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, ensuring a balanced work-life dynamic.

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments of elderly clients to identify individual care needs and establish treatment plans.
• Facilitate both individual and group counseling sessions focused on coping strategies for emotional challenges related to aging and major life changes.
• Work in partnership with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to create comprehensive care plans tailored to the unique needs of geriatric patients.
• Educate both staff and families about effective strategies to promote emotional well-being and enhance the quality of life for elderly clients.
• Provide grief and loss counseling to clients and their families, helping them navigate the complexities of end-of-life issues.
• Implement cognitive stimulation activities and mental health interventions designed to promote mental acuity and emotional stability in older adults.

This role primarily focuses on the geriatric population, who may be dealing with various mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, dementia, and the effects of grief or loss. Counselors will need to possess a deep understanding of the unique emotional and psychological needs of seniors and demonstrate cultural sensitivity, ensuring that services are tailored to individual backgrounds and experiences.

• A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) certification.
• A minimum of four years of recent experience in geriatric counseling or mental health support.
• Proven experience in delivering therapeutic services to elderly clients with diverse mental health needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively connect with clients and their families.

• Additional training or specialization in geriatric mental health, including evidence-based approaches for aging-related challenges.
• Experience in collaborative environments involving multidisciplinary services in geriatric care.
• Knowledge of ethical and legal standards governing mental health counseling practices.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive assessments and design effective treatment plans.
