• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly residents, identifying their specific emotional and psychological care needs.
• Provide individual and group therapy sessions, addressing issues such as grief, depression, anxiety, and adjustment to aging.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to create and implement personalized care plans that address the complexities of each client’s situation.
• Develop and facilitate educational workshops for family members and caregivers on effective strategies to enhance the emotional well-being and quality of life for elderly individuals.
• Offer specialized grief counseling to assist residents and families in coping with end-of-life challenges and loss.
• Utilize cognitive stimulation programs and interventions that promote mental acuity and resilience in older adults.

This role focuses on a diverse client population primarily consisting of elderly individuals dealing with various mental health conditions. Our clients may be grappling with age-related transitions, such as retirement, loss of loved ones, chronic illness, and feelings of isolation. As a counselor, you will engage with clients from different cultural backgrounds, necessitating a sensitive and inclusive approach to therapy that respects their unique experiences and values.

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling or a related field from an accredited institution.
• A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential in the state of Washington.
• A minimum of four years of recent experience in providing geriatric counseling and mental health support, including practical experience with elderly clients.
• Solid understanding of geriatric mental health principles and evidence-based therapies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to connect empathetically with older adults and their families.
• Proficiency with telehealth platforms and electronic health record (EHR) systems.

• Additional certifications or specialized training in geriatric mental health or aging-related issues.
• Proven experience in leading group therapy sessions for older adults.
• Familiarity with resources and support networks available for seniors and their families.

The salary range for this position is competitive, ranging from $65,000 to $95,000 annually, depending on your experience and qualifications.
