• Conduct thorough mental health assessments of elderly clients, identifying specific needs and developing tailored treatment plans.
• Deliver both individual and group counseling sessions aimed at helping seniors navigate the emotional complexities of aging and life transitions.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including physicians and nursing staff, to create and implement comprehensive care strategies.
• Educate clients, families, and caregivers on effective coping strategies and resources to enhance the emotional well-being of elderly individuals.
• Provide specialized grief and loss counseling to clients and their families, offering support during end-of-life discussions or after significant loss.
• Lead cognitive stimulation programs designed to foster mental acuity and engagement among elderly clients, incorporating creative and evidence-based interventions.

This role focuses predominantly on the geriatric population, providing counseling services to seniors who may be experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, or adjustment issues related to aging. Counselors will work with a diverse clientele, acknowledging cultural sensitivities and tailoring approaches to meet individual needs. By employing a holistic perspective, the aim is to improve clients' quality of life through compassionate and informed mental health care.

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
• Minimum of 4 years of direct experience in geriatric counseling or mental health support, with a strong track record in this specialty.
• Demonstrated proficiency in evidence-based interventions specifically designed for the elderly population.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with older clients, their families, and caregivers.
• Proficiency in conducting comprehensive assessments and creating individualized treatment plans.
• Understanding of ethical and legal standards pertaining to geriatric mental health counseling.

• Specialization in geriatric mental health or aging-related issues.
• Training or certification in cognitive behavioral therapy or other effective therapeutic modalities.
• Familiarity with digital health technologies and telehealth practices.
• Experience in providing training or mentorship to junior staff or interns.
