This role primarily operates in a telehealth setting, allowing Counseling professionals to connect with clients from the comfort of their own homes. • Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly clients to identify their specific needs and tailor therapeutic interventions.
• Provide individual and group counseling sessions, focusing on emotional issues related to aging, grief, and life transitions.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including healthcare providers and families, to develop comprehensive care plans and ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
• Educate families and staff on the emotional support techniques and strategies to improve the quality of life for elderly individuals.
• Facilitate grief and loss counseling, offering compassionate support to clients and their families facing end-of-life issues.

This position focuses specifically on senior clients, many of whom experience significant life changes, including loss, relocation, or health challenges. The ideal candidate will be adept in addressing a diverse range of mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, and adjustment disorders. Understanding the unique experiences and cultural backgrounds of elderly individuals is critical in delivering effective care.

• Graduate degree: A master's degree in Mental Health Counseling or a related field from an accredited institution is required.
• Licensure: Must possess a valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) certification to practice in Massachusetts.
• Experience: A minimum of four years of direct recent experience in geriatric counseling or mental health support.
• Specialization: Additional training or certifications in geriatric mental health and aging-related issues is highly preferred.
• Competence: Knowledge of evidence-based interventions tailored to the elderly population.
• Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication, empathy, and cultural awareness to effectively engage with clients from various backgrounds.
• Assessment Skills: Ability to perform comprehensive assessments and craft personalized treatment strategies.

• Prior experience working remotely in a telehealth setting or using digital platforms for therapy.
