• Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly clients to identify specific emotional and psychological needs.
• Provide individual and group counseling sessions tailored to the unique challenges faced by older adults, including grief management, coping strategies, and emotional resilience.
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including physicians, social workers, and other clinicians, to devise and implement comprehensive care plans that address the multifaceted needs of our geriatric clients.
• Develop and conduct educational workshops for staff and family members on effective strategies to enhance the emotional well-being and quality of life for elderly individuals.
• Facilitate grief and loss counseling sessions for clients and their families dealing with end-of-life issues, offering empathetic support and coping techniques.
• Implement cognitive stimulation programs and other mental health interventions aimed at promoting mental acuity and emotional health among elderly individuals.
• Monitor and document client progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to meet changing needs.

Your primary focus will be on elderly clients, including those facing various mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma related to aging and significant life events. The unique characteristics of this population require patience, cultural awareness, and a robust understanding of age-related psychological issues.

• Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• A valid and active Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) designation in New York State.
• A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in geriatric counseling and mental health support.
• In-depth understanding of evidence-based interventions focused on elderly mental health.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively connect with older adults and their families.
• Strong assessment skills and the ability to design customized treatment plans.
• Knowledge of relevant ethical and legal standards in geriatric mental health counseling.

• Specialized training or additional certifications in geriatric mental health and aging-related issues.
• Experience providing counseling services to a diverse elderly client base, ideally within an outpatient or remote setting.
• Proficiency in digital therapy tools and telehealth platforms to ensure effective remote service delivery.

This position offers a competitive salary ranging from USD 65,000 to 95,000 annually, commensurate with experience, along with an attractive sign-on bonus.
