I) DEFINITIONAND BASIC FUNCTION: This professional position establishessmooth operations of Lancaster City and Lititz Galleries, creates new communityconnections to support outside exhibitions, and works with the Development Departmentto build partnerships and create new opportunities for Individuals and localartists who participate at the Galleries (physical and/or on-line).
II) ACCOUNTABILITY:The Friendship Heart Gallery Associate is supervised by the Associate Directorof Operations for Day Services and is ultimately accountable to the ExecutiveTeam.
III) AUTHORITY:The Gallery Associate oversees outside exhibitions and community events. TheGallery Associate has access rights to Outlook and the Shared Drive. Thisposition is responsible for the operations of the Lancaster City and LititzGalleries and works with the Development team to provide input and artwork forthe Friendship Community on-line gallery.
IV) RESPONSIBLITIES:
a) Demonstratesa respectful positive attitude that promotes teamwork and service excellence toartists, artistsรขโ‚ฌโ„ข families, fellow Team Members, and/or the general public.
b) Maintainsclean and inviting Galleries and Studio space.
c) OrganizesGallery pieces for art shows/exhibits in conjunction with the Development Team
d) Facilitatessale of orders, including packing and shipping items.
e) Coordinatesmatting and framing of pieces for sale or display in the gallery or externalshow
f) Worksany events or exhibit showcases that contain Friendship Community artistsรขโ‚ฌโ„ขpieces, when appropriate.
g) Overseessales associates, if applicable.
h) Providesinformation for the Grant Writer to request grants for funding along withDevelopment Team.
i) Establishespromotional opportunities for the artist and their pieces.
j) Managesday-to-day operations of the physical Galleries.
k) Implementsthe annual business plan and revises with Friendship Community Leadership Teamas necessary.
l) Maintainsaccurate accounting records for artistic pieces and products sold along withthe Finance and Development Team.
m) Makeconnections with local artists.
n) Staysinvolved in the Lancaster City art community through meetings and events.
o) Maintainsthe inventory system accurately.
p) Workswith Development to provide monthly Board Reports as requested.
q) Workswith Friendship Heart Studio Team to bring art to the Galleries.
r) Workswith jury team to review the art that is exhibited.
s) Workswith retail partners (e.g., Primitives by Kathy) along with the DevelopmentTeam.
t) AttendsFriendship Community Leadership meetings as invited.
V) WORKSCHEDULE: This is a Max Part-Time hourly (20-24hrs/week),professional position with schedule dependent upon tasks needed for theday/week. Flexibility of hours will be required, including special events andoccasional week nights and weekends to support the Gallery operations andDevelopment Team.
VI) EDUCATIONAND SKILLS: The Gallery Associate should possess anAssociateรขโ‚ฌ's or Bachelorรขโ‚ฌ's degree from an accredited college or university (artrelated degree preferred) and a minimum of two years experience with works ofart and related product lines. Knowledge of the current and changing art trendsis preferred. Knowledge of framing and matting pieces of art is preferred. TheGallery Associate must be a mature professional who is capable of provingleadership to Team Members and Artists. The Gallery Associate shall organizetime and events related to managing the business and be comfortable networkingand speaking with community businesses, private donors, funders, legislators,art institutes and the general public.
