To thrive as a Gallery Intern, you need a background or coursework in art history or visual arts, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills. Familiarity with art handling procedures, digital cataloging systems, and basic office software is often required. Excellent communication, teamwork, and adaptability help you interact effectively with visitors, artists, and staff. These skills are important because they ensure smooth gallery operations, enhance visitor experiences, and support the successful execution of exhibitions and events.

What types of tasks and responsibilities can I expect during a gallery internship?

As a gallery intern, you'll typically assist with a variety of tasks such as installing and deinstalling exhibitions, cataloging artwork, supporting event preparation, and interacting with visitors.
