ABOUT LAS AMERICAS IMMIGRANT ADVOCACY CENTER
Las Americas is a nationally recognized organization dedicated to serving immigrants and asylum seekers with high quality legal services, advocacy, and support in the borderland communities surrounding El Paso, Texas and southern New Mexico. Founded in 1987 by the visionary co-founders of Annunciation House, Las Americas was designed to address the unmet legal needs of Central Americans fleeing civil war and political unrest in the 1980's. Since its founding, Las Americas has served over 50,000 persons, while advocating for a robust asylum system, working to reunify separated families, and advocating for systemic change to US immigration policy and practices.

Las Americas is at a key inflection point in its organizational history. The demand for high quality legal services for immigrants is at an all time high and capacity is limited. We seek a dedicated fundraising professional equipped with a proven track record fueled by their commitment to the El Paso community and the fight for a more just world.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Fundraising and Grants Manager will work closely with the Executive Director to articulate and execute a vision for individual giving, grants, and corporate giving. The Manager will support the supervision of contract employees, interns, and volunteers assigned to this program area in an effort to best serve the mission of Las Americas.
  • Fundraising Strategy
    • Manage Las Americas' giving efforts, supporting strategy, and executing fundraising plans to increase overall giving
    • Participate in Las Americas' efforts to increase mid-level giving through researching, testing, implementing, and analyzing new fundraising methodology
    • Develop and implement strategies for solicitation that will grow mid-level giving revenue, working collaboratively with other program areas to meet annual fundraising goals
    • Work closely with the executive director to engage major donors and familiarize them with the scope of Las Americas' programs and activities
    • Contribute to the establishment of a planned giving program, implementing new strategies and protocols to attract bequests
  • Grant Writing & Reporting
    • Work closely with the executive director, staff, volunteers, and consultants to manage the grant writing and reporting process
    • Effectively use Neon and/or other CRM tools for grant management
    • Work closely with the finance team regarding grants and reporting
  • Special Events
    • Create and execute meetings for donor cultivation and special events including, but not limited to Border Heroes and El Paso Giving Day
    • Develop events and coordinate logistics to ensure an exceptional donor experience, with a focus on cultivation and stewardship
    • Support third party fundraising
    • Develop and execute all special events for the organization
  • Data Management
    • Monitor revenue and expenses related to individual and corporate giving budgets and prepare regular reports on all appeal activities
    • Ensure effective database tracking and accounting policies
    • Assist with individual and corporate donor prospecting, including research, rating, and screening sessions
    • Maintain accurate and complete records of donor communications

IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:
  • 2+ years of experience in fundraising for immigration nonprofit organizations
  • Deep community ties and professional relationships throughout Las Americas' geographic footprint
  • Ability to move seamlessly between all kinds of people and organizations regardless of class, status, lived experience, and language
  • Knowledge of immigration law and policy
  • Love and respect for our borderland region
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice and service to others

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Ability to work locally in El Paso, TX
  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising and grant management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including experience in writing direct mail appeals, e-appeals, and articles as necessary
  • Outgoing personality and ability to initiate and enjoy direct communication with donors and potential donors
  • Well-organized and self-motivated professional whose work demonstrates attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Experience with budgeting, planning, and project management
  • Must always maintain professional demeanor and excellent work ethic
  • Ability to handle diverse, simultaneous tasks, meet deadlines, and attend to follow-through
  • Evening and weekend work are sometimes required

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Bilingual - English/Spanish preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with Neon CRM or other donor management software
  • Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds, including low-income populations, people who are marginally housed, immigrants, LGBTQ individuals, people of color and/or persons with disabilities
  • Experience working with marginalized populations and survivors of trauma

SALARY
  • Minimum salary starting at $50,000 commensurate with experience
