Job description

Evolve Adolescent Behavioral Health is seeking passionate and enthusiastic Residential Counselors to join our teams at our 6-bed teen residential treatment centers in the San Fernando Valley!
We have locations in Calabasas, Agoura, and Woodland Hills and currently have both full and part time roles available. Our Woodland Hills program is a 6 bed autism specialty program treating autistic teens struggling with mental health and substances abuse issues.
We help adolescents 12 to 17 years old struggling with mental health, substance abuse, or behavior issues. Residential Counselors provide supervision and support to up to six adolescents who are in residential treatment for 45-60 days for issues related to mental health and substance abuse. Residential Counselors support clients in their daily activities and facilitate groups with our clients. This position is challenging yet rewarding as our staff have the opportunity to make a significant impact in the lives of teens and their families. This is a great position for someone who may be interested in going back to school to pursue a degree in the mental health or social services field.
The ideal candidate is patient, dedicated, and excited about working with teens. Residential Counselors must be flexible, resilient, reliable team players, and must know how to maintain appropriate boundaries.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one support and supervision to teens struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues
  • Help create a safe, supportive, and high-energy environment where teens can grow and feel seen
  • Join clients in experiential activities like hiking, surf therapy, equine therapy, fitness groups, and other fun therapeutic experiences
  • Lead engaging psychoeducation groups and recreational activities
  • Stay proactive in supporting client safety, emotional well-being, and overall group dynamics
  • Respond calmly, confidently, and compassionately during challenging moments or crises
  • Model healthy communication, accountability, emotional regulation, and self-care
  • Keep accurate documentation of shift activities and client updates
  • Support teens in building independence through everyday life skills like cooking, laundry, cleaning, dishes, and maintaining personal spaces
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required; college coursework or bachelor's degree preferred
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • All schedules require working at least 1 weekend shift
  • Experience working with teens preferred
  • Experience working in a behavioral healthcare setting preferred
  • As an RC you will be a critical health worker, and so could be exposed to COVID, or on occasion work with clients with COVID. Evolve follows all state and local requirements regarding PPE and has strict guidelines for a safe work environment.
