About this role

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Engineer for the ServiceNow Core Engineering Delivery team.

This role is a hands-on technical leadership opportunity focused on building and advancing foundational ServiceNow platform capabilities at enterprise scale. The Core Engineering Delivery team designs, develops, and delivers shared platform services, strategic integrations, reusable engineering patterns, custom applications, automation capabilities, and solutions that support multiple ServiceNow products and business functions across Wells Fargo.

In this role, you will help shape the future of the ServiceNow platform by leading complex engineering initiatives, solving cross-functional technical challenges, improving platform reliability, and enabling teams to deliver scalable, secure, and sustainable solutions. Key areas of focus include enterprise integrations, AI-enabled capabilities, regulatory and compliance solutions, platform automation, data and pipeline integrations, and modernization efforts that improve operational health and business value.

The ideal candidate is a strong ServiceNow engineer and technical leader who can move comfortably between architecture, hands-on development, platform governance, troubleshooting, and cross-team collaboration. This individual will influence platform strategy, mentor engineers, and serve as a trusted technical advisor for critical ServiceNow initiatives.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex ServiceNow engineering initiatives from solution design through implementation.
  • Design, develop, and implement scalable platform capabilities, integrations, custom applications, reusable frameworks, and automation solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership for platform architecture, enterprise integrations, operational processes, governance, and platform health initiatives.
  • Drive improvements in platform reliability, performance, lifecycle management, upgrades, operational readiness, and technical debt reduction.
  • Lead architecture and design discussions involving ServiceNow, Microsoft technologies, enterprise applications, REST APIs, authentication patterns, and third-party platforms.
  • Partner with product owners, engineering teams, support organizations, cybersecurity, compliance, infrastructure, and business stakeholders to solve complex platform challenges.
  • Help with establishing engineering standards, best practices, and governance frameworks that improve consistency, reduce risk, and support sustainable delivery.
  • Analyze incidents, performance trends, platform risks, and recurring issues to identify proactive improvement opportunities.
  • Lead root cause analysis and resolution of complex ServiceNow issues impacting business-critical services.
  • Mentor engineers, provide technical direction, and promote engineering excellence across distributed teams.
  • Serve as a senior technical escalation point and advisor for platform-related initiatives, roadmap planning, and strategic decisions.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using AIassisted development and analysis tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot and approved codecentric agents)
  • Leverage AI to accelerate system design, coding, testing, analysis, and troubleshooting
  • Apply strong technical judgment when validating and integrating AIassisted outputs into solutions
  • Understand and account for model limitations, security risks, and operational considerations
  • Apply AI responsibly in development and production environments
  • Ensure AI usage aligns with security, compliance, privacy, and ethical standards

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 5+ years of ServiceNow software engineering or development experience
  • Experience designing, developing, and supporting ServiceNow platform capabilities in a large enterprise environment.
  • Experience leading complex ServiceNow implementations, platform initiatives, custom applications, or enterprise integrations.
  • Experience with ServiceNow scripting, configuration, workflow automation, and application development concepts.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex platform, integration, performance, or operational issues.
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator certification
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months of starting

Desired Qualifications

  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist certification
  • Proficiency with ServiceNow JavaScript, Glide APIs, business rules, script includes client scripts, UI policies, flows, and platform automation capabilities
  • Experience with Service Catalog, Flow Designer, Integration Hub, App Engine, and reusable platform patterns
  • Experience with ServiceNow integrations involving Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Graph, Azure/Entra ID, REST APIs, OAuth, service accounts, and enterprise authentication patterns
  • Experience designing or implementing ServiceNow AI capabilities such as Now Assist, Virtual Agent, AI Search, AI agents, or AI-enabled workflow automation
  • Experience with MID Server architecture, enterprise integration patterns, and secure connectivity
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and influencing technical decisions across organizational boundaries
  • Experience providing technical direction, mentoring engineers, or leading solution design efforts

Job Expectations

  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule - 3 days per week on-site/in office and 2 days per week remote

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
