Description
Xcelerate Solutions is seeking a Software Engineer - ServiceNow to design, develop, configure, and support ServiceNow solutions for a federal program. The successful candidate is a motivated self-starter who will work in collaboration with technical teams, the program manager, and government stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and compliant ServiceNow applications that enhance IT service management (ITSM), workflow automation, and digital transformation initiatives in an Agile environment.
This position requires experience developing ServiceNow applications and integrations while adhering to federal cybersecurity, accessibility, and software development standards. Key Responsibilities
  • Configure and customize ServiceNow modules, including IT Service Management (ITSM), IT Operations Management (ITOM), IT Asset Management (ITAM), Customer Service Management.
  • Develop custom applications using ServiceNow App Engine and Flow Designer.
  • Build and maintain business rules, client and server scripts, UI policies and actions, ACLs, notifications, and catalog items.
  • Develop integrations using REST, SOAP, IntegrationHub, MID server, and external APIs.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and government stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Participate in Agile software development activities, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, demonstrations, and retrospectives.
  • Perform unit testing, integration testing, system testing, and user acceptance testing support.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement timely corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including solution designs, configuration guides, and operational procedures.
  • Support platform upgrades, patching, and release management activities.
  • Implement secure coding practices and ensure solutions comply with federal security and governance requirements.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with federal security standards including NIST, FedRAMP, FISMA, and agency-specific policies.
  • Support Authority to Operate (ATO) activities and security assessments.
  • Ensure solutions comply with Section 508 accessibility requirements when applicable.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
  • 3-7 years of professional software development experience.
  • 2-5 years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience.
  • Strong programming experience with one or more of the following:
    • JavaScript/TypeScript
    • Java
    • C#
    • Python
    • C++
  • Experience developing JavaScript, HTML, CSS, C++, and Python.
  • Experience with ServiceNow Studio, Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, Script Includes, Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Actions, and Catalog development.
  • Experience developing REST APIs and web applications.
  • Experience with Git and modern version control practices.
  • Familiarity with relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Oracle SQL Developer.
  • Experience working in Agile software development environments.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting federal civilian or Department of Defense (DoD)/Department of War (DoW) programs.
  • Experience developing applications in ServiceNow and AWS.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized applications.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and GitLab CI/CD.
  • Knowledge of secure coding principles and software vulnerability remediation.
  • Familiarity with Identity and Access Management (IAM), Single Sign-on (SSO), and multi-factor authentication.
  • Knowledge of federal cybersecurity frameworks and compliance requirements.
  • Experience integrating with identity management solutions such as Active Directory, LDAP, OAuth, or SAML.
