Location: Toledo, OH
Position Type: Remote — Local candidates welcome to work onsite
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM ET
Contract: 13 Weeks | Potential Extension


About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Trauma Registrar to support trauma registry operations for a 13-week assignment with potential for extension. The ideal candidate will have strong trauma registry experience, hands-on TraumaBase experience, and a solid background in AIS and ICD-10 coding.

This role requires someone who can work independently with minimal onboarding and maintain a high level of accuracy when performing trauma abstraction, coding, registry maintenance, and reporting.


Important Requirements

  • Direct TraumaBase experience is REQUIRED. Candidates without TraumaBase experience will not be considered.
  • 3–5+ years of Trauma Registry experience
  • 2+ years of AIS coding experience within a Trauma Registry
  • Experience with ICD-10 coding and ISS calculation
  • Must be available to work Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM ET
  • Must be fully dedicated to this assignment during scheduled working hours. Concurrent employment is acceptable only if it does not overlap with the required schedule.
  • Must be able to work independently with little to no training
  • Direct Manager Interview required


Key Responsibilities

  • Identify trauma patients for inclusion in the Trauma Registry
  • Perform trauma patient chart abstraction using TraumaBase
  • Assign accurate ICD-10 and AIS codes
  • Calculate Injury Severity Scores (ISS)
  • Maintain trauma registry data quality, accuracy, and integrity
  • Validate registry data and resolve edits
  • Support NTDB, TQIP, NORTR, and state reporting requirements
  • Identify and document Performance Improvement (PI) opportunities
  • Generate reports for Trauma Committee and leadership
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
