Job description

Senior Product Manager, Product
Full-Time, Remote / Salary, Exempt / Includes Benefits, PTO, Flexible Schedule, Equi
At Steno, we're growing fast and transforming the litigation technology industry with best-in-class court reporting, modern solutions that add value for lawyers, and an exceptional client experience. We partner with law firms to simplify complex workflows, deliver reliable outcomes and case insights, and to revolutionize a traditionally outdated space while we expand across the country.
Steno has experienced rapid growth and market adoption since its release in early 2019, and we're now ready to bring on additional product talent to help us build intelligent systems that meet our customers' evolving needs. An amazing, AI-powered product begins with amazing people who are ready to upend a traditional industry. In this role, you'll own a core product area at Steno, leading the vision, roadmap, and execution, and working closely with engineering, design, and business teams to deliver measurable results.
Who are you?
We're looking for a technically adept product leader who's excited to dive into a new space and make it their own. In this role, you'll define and execute the vision for the users and workflows in your area, driving innovation and usability at scale. You'll also lead a cross-functional dev squad, ensuring alignment across engineering, design, and business teams to deliver high-impact solutions that improve user workflows and efficiency.
At Steno, we build products by deeply understanding our users' pain points first. That's core to our DNA and has driven our success. We don't add features just to check a box for sales. We follow our principles: thorough user research, precise problem definition, and thoughtful solution design. As a Product Manager at Steno, you'll identify opportunities to meaningfully improve how our users work, while holding a high bar for solving real problems that deliver concrete value.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter and strategic, autonomous problem-solver who brings clarity to ambiguity - transforming undefined challenges into cohesive, scalable product experiences, even in a space that's new to them. You have a strong technical foundation, enabling you to collaborate effectively with engineers while also advocating for user needs and business outcomes.
You excel at navigating complex, multi-stakeholder environments, aligning teams around a shared vision, and making informed, data-driven decisions. You're naturally curious and eager to learn - you don't need deep domain expertise on day one, but you pick things up fast. Exceptional communication skills are a must, along with a hospitality mindset that enables you to lead with empathy, operate under pressure, and create seamless, intuitive experiences for our users.
On a regular basis, you will:
  • Own a core product area, ensuring a seamless, intuitive, and efficient product experience for the users it serves.
  • Lead product strategy and execution for your area, integrating it into the broader Steno platform.
  • Drive product innovation, identifying opportunities to enhance automation and efficiency.
  • Lead and manage a cross-functional squad, ensuring alignment between engineering, design, and business teams while driving execution on high-impact initiatives.
  • Define and prioritize your product roadmap, balancing user needs, business objectives, and technical feasibility to deliver measurable impact.
  • Bring structure to ambiguity - transforming complex problems into actionable plans and executing them efficiently.
  • Own and optimize key workflows, ensuring frictionless interactions between users and our platform.
  • Develop a deep understanding of our users through research, data analysis, and direct engagement, advocating for their needs in every decision.
  • Partner closely with engineering to drive technical execution, ensuring high-quality and scalable product development.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the company, ensuring buy-in and alignment on key product initiatives.

You're gonna crush it if:
  • You have 7+ years of experience in product management, with at least 3+ years managing full product lifecycles from vision to optimization, preferably with AI, SaaS, or legal tech products.
  • Strong technical acumen - able to communicate effectively with engineers and understand AI/ML capabilities.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams (squad leadership) to drive complex product initiatives.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a track record of clarifying ambiguous situations.
  • Strong UX and design intuition, ensuring seamless client experiences.
  • Hospitality mindset - thrives in fast-paced environments and collaborates with empathy and poise under pressure.

Bonus points if:
  • You have experience in UI/UX design using tools like Figma
  • You have experience with user analytics software like Mixpanel
  • You have experience with two-sided marketplace platforms
  • You have experience with data analytics systems like Looker
  • You have experience with Zendesk
  • You have experience with Hubspot
  • You have experience with a start-up

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Salary: $175,000 - $210,000
  • Health, Vision, & Dental Benefits - generous company-sponsored health plans for both employees and dependents, including comprehensive vision & dental
  • Wellness/Mental Health - shared benefits to be used among employees and families
  • Flexible Paid Time Off - allowing employees to find balance in their lives
  • Options of Equity - we know our success is nothing without our team
  • Access to a 401k through Guideline
  • A home office setup and a monthly stipend to offset internet and phone costs

Our Team
The Product team is a highly reliable, innovation-driven group responsible for building the technology that powers Steno's services. We work cross-functionally to conduct user research, define new product features, and pitch product strategy to stakeholders, collaborating closely with Engineering and Design teams to bring ideas to life. This multi-time-zone team values asynchronous work to maximize flexibility and efficiency, ensuring seamless collaboration across diverse locations.
About Steno
  • Founded in 2018 and growing fast!
  • Values: be highly reliable, constantly innovate, and operate with a hospitality mindset
