Full Time Remote Island information

What common challenges do employees face while working full-time in a remote island setting, and how can they be addressed?

Working full-time from a remote island can present unique challenges such as limited internet connectivity, time zone differences with colleagues, and potential isolation from larger teams. To address these, it's important to establish reliable communication tools, set clear expectations regarding availability, and participate actively in virtual meetings to stay connected. Many organizations also encourage remote island workers to schedule regular check-ins and leverage co-working spaces or local networks if available, helping to foster both productivity and a sense of community.

What are full time remote island jobs?

Full time remote island jobs are positions that allow individuals to work full-time while residing on an island, often in a remote or secluded location. These jobs can range from hospitality and tourism roles, such as resort management or caretaking, to remote digital work like software development, writing, or customer service. Many people are attracted to these opportunities for the unique lifestyle, scenic environment, and the chance to live and work away from busy urban centers. However, remote island jobs may come with challenges such as limited access to amenities or the need for self-sufficiency. It's important to research the specific job and location to understand what's required and what to expect.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Full Time Remote Island worker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Time Remote Island worker, you need a background in hospitality, facilities management, or marine operations, often supported by relevant certifications such as lifeguarding or first aid. Familiarity with satellite communication systems, water desalination equipment, and renewable energy sources is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and excellent interpersonal skills set top candidates apart in this unique environment. Clients may come to you for help with anxiety, depression, grief, stress, trauma responses, relationship struggles, or major changes at home or work. Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $115,000-$120,000 per year with full benefits
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM
Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one counseling sessions through a secure telehealth platform
  • Complete clinical intakes and learn each client's history, concerns, strengths, and treatment goals
  • Build treatment plans that are clear, realistic, and tailored to each client's needs
  • Support clients managing anxiety, depression, stress, grief, trauma-related symptoms, and adjustment challenges
  • Use evidence-based counseling methods that fit the client's presentation and goals
  • Help clients develop practical tools for emotional regulation, communication, boundaries, and coping
  • Document sessions, progress notes, treatment plans, and updates accurately and on time
  • Monitor changes in symptoms, risk factors, and overall functioning throughout care
  • Follow HIPAA, state licensing rules, ethical standards, and telehealth best practices
  • Refer clients to additional services or higher levels of care when needed

Requirements
  • Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Counseling, or a related field
  • Active and unrestricted Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) license in Rhode Island
  • Experience providing therapy in outpatient care, private practice, community mental health, or telehealth
  • Working knowledge of clinical assessments, treatment planning, and counseling interventions
  • Comfortable using video platforms, electronic health records, and remote communication tools
  • Strong documentation habits and clear written communication skills
  • Ability to manage a full-time caseload with sound clinical judgment
  • Reliable internet connection and a private space for confidential client sessions

Benefits
  • $115,000-$120,000 per year
  • Full-time remote role
  • 2 weeks PTO
  • Health Insurance
