Job description

Position Purpose:
Responsible for the day-to-day management of the production floor though supervision, development and training of the production team which includes approximately 20-30 associates.  In addition, it is responsible for the efficient movement of product through the plant with a focus on quality and timeliness. Reports to the Plant Manager.

Pay Range: $75,000 - $95,000 annually- Plus Quarterly Bonus

Schedule: 3rd Shift | Monday-Thursday | 4Day Work Week

Hours: 4:30 PM - 5:00 AM

 
Duties & Responsibilities:
Tasks related to this position may vary and are not limited to those listed below:
       Follows established safety rules, policies and procedures at all times
       Directs supervision of production staff including: training associates, planning, assigning and directing work; performance appraisals ; rewarding and disciplining associates; conflict resolution; team building; coaching and leading associates to improve; addressing complaints and resolving problems; documentation; and setting an example of superior behavior, attitude and performance
       Maintains efficient workflows by monitoring processes and variables; implements cost reductions; develops reporting procedures and systems
       Completes production plan by establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising production schedules, resolving problems and reporting results or issues
       Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs and preventative maintenance; assists in troubleshooting machine issues
       Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting and analyzing production performance records and data, answering questions and responding to requests
       Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, budgetary and personnel requirements
       Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing associates on the use of all equipment and safety protocols
       Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications
       Assists with hands-on operation of machines, including operating and feeding large press machines that requires a full awareness of surroundings, machine pinch points and safety protocols
       Maintains inventories of sheets, inks and other converting supplies
       Reports quality concerns to the Management Team and assists in determining quality guidelines
        Conducts weekly Production/Safety meetings with departmental personnel
       Communicates with necessary supervision to avoid problems between shift changes
       Operates forklift, as needed, in tight spaces with human traffic
       Other duties as assigned
     Full-time role in a manufacturing plant/warehouse setting
 
Skill Set:
       Proficient in lean methods
       Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
       Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
       Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization
       Ability to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy; calculate figures and amounts, such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate
       Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
       Results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment
       Demonstrates aptitude for problem-solving and able to determine solutions for customers
       Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills
       Assertive leader who holds self and others accountable
 
Qualifications Desired:
       2 -5 years of experience as a production supervisor or manager
       Experience in the corrugated packaging industry highly preferred
       Working knowledge of all production machines, plant equipment and processes, including: equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation
       Certified forklift operator
       High school diploma / GED
