Position Overview
The Production Supervisor supervises manufacturing operations and support staff with an emphasis on teamwork, safety, and sanitation. Ensures that necessary tools, supplies, and equipment are available and properly utilized to perform production tasks effectively. Performs training, compliance, recordkeeping, and duties related to achieving production goals & objectives. Reports to the Plant Production Manager.
Primary Responsibilities
• Maintains safe and clean work environment to be always audit ready by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures and developing timely corrective actions.
• Monitor the work of employees, provide feedback, perform coaching/counseling, development plans, annual performance reviews and maintain training records, attendance, paid time off, etc.
• Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
• Establishes a strong safety culture by actively participating on the safety committee conducting safety investigations, placing preventive measures in place to avoid safety accidents and the willingness to become certified with the American Red Cross for first aid and CPR.
• Monitor and enhance team member productivity through OEE tracking, constructive feedback, coaching, and targeted team development.
• Oversee inventory management to ensure materials are in stock and available for production. Manage the ordering process for both stock and non-stock items to maintain seamless production flow.
• Reviews quality holds, mechanical disruptions, and safety accidents by conducting Root Cause Analysis and other problem-solving tools.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including problem-solving, 5S implementation, visual management, and LEAN projects. Drives a culture of continuous improvement by actively identifying and implementing best practices.
• Provide leadership coverage during planned or unplanned absences, ensuring continuity of operations.
• This role is responsible for 10 or more direct reports while also ensuring effective employee relations with supporting departments such as Quality, Warehouse, Sanitation & Maintenance.
• This role will also serve as a leadership liaison between the off-shift support departments and their leaders.
• Ability to understand the Production Schedule and ensures that schedule is followed.
Education Requirements
Preferred -
4 year/Bachelors Degree
Business Related field
Years Of Experience
2 Years - Leadership role with direct reports
2-5 Years - Manufacturing/Production environment, preferably food manufacturing
Prior Knowledge/Experience
• Demonstrated strong leadership skills with a passion and ability to truly engage people at all levels.
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
• Fluent English speaking and writing required. Spanish is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.)
• Must be flexible with the ability to work occasional weekends.
• Knowledge of lean six sigma is required. Having a certification is preferred (Yellow belt, Green Belt, etc.)
• Knowledge of GMPs and Food Manufacturing preferred.
• Knowledge of SAP preferred.
Work Environment
• Manufacturing environment - large equipment, noisy, busy, can be dusty or damp.
• 75% on Production Floor & 25% office & administrative duties.
• Use of PPE required (provided) - safety glasses, ear plugs/muffs, company uniform, safety shoes.
• Additional PPE including bump caps and dust masks required for some duties.
• Standing, walking, lifting, cutting, climbing stairs for extended periods of time.
• Use a computer keyboard and monitor.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
• Use of electronic production equipment, including reading and manipulating touch screen monitors.
• Some duties require working outside in Rochester weather.

Compensation
Compensation for this position is based on skills and experience, salary range from $65,000 - $82,000 annually.
