Cathodic Protection Technician

Job Responsibilities

ยท Apply corrosion skills and aptitude to repair, install, troubleshoot, and perform other predictive and preventative maintenance tasks on corrosion control equipment, facilities, systems, and associated devices (rectifiers, test stations, ground beds, critical bonds, foreign line crossings, cased crossing, surveys, etc.)

Job Duties

ยท Install CP Systems

ยท Perform CP Potential Surveys

ยท Set Rectifier Interruption

ยท Perform CIS, DCVG, and ACVG Surveys

ยท Operate electronic pipe locators, including PCM

ยท Take pipe-to-soil readings

ยท CP Troubleshooting

ยท Annual test reads

Qualifications, Education, Experience, Skills

ยท Highschool diploma or GED equivalent

ยท Valid State Driverโ€™s License with clean abstract

ยท Ability to pass an observed DOT drug screening as well as being subject to random testing throughout employment

ยท Pass background check

ยท Ability to complete Operator Qualifications as assigned

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

ยท Must be able to read and comprehend technical operational manuals

ยท Minimum of 1-2 years pipeline/corrosion related experience

ยท Basic understanding of multi-meters and related electrical test equipment

ยท Knowledge of half-cells, UT equipment, cadweld processes, coating evaluations/applications equipment, CPDM, CPS, data loggers, pipe locators, current interrupters, related testing/diagnostic and pipe protection equipment and processes

Certifications and Trainings

AMPP/NACE CP1 Certification Required, CP2 preferred

Physical and Work Demands

ยท Ability to work outdoors in various climates including extreme heat and cold, requiring safety accommodations such as protective clothing

ยท Frequent stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, and twisting required

ยท Ability to follow worksite safety instructions physically and visually

ยท Driving a vehicle on work sites in all types of weather conditions
