Job description

THE POSITION The Corrections Library Assistant position at State Correctional Institution (SCI) Phoenix offers a rewarding opportunity to support learning and resource access within the institution. This role allows you to help maintain an organized library that provides recreational, legal, and reentry materials to inmates. You will work closely with staff and inmate workers to keep daily operations running smoothly.

Your work will support education, structure, and personal growth within the facility. DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position supports daily library operations, guidance of inmate workers, and the distribution of recreational and legal materials. It requires strong organization, clear communication, and steady oversight of library activities.

As a Corrections Library Assistant, you will perform the following duties: Library Operations: Monitor daily activities to maintain an orderly and efficient environment Patron Assistance: Help inmates locate and use recreational, legal, and reentry materials Worker Oversight: Guide inmate workers, support training, and assist with scheduling and reports Service Coordination: Manage call-outs, track accountability, and deliver materials to housing units Material Circulation: Process interlibrary loans, review book requests, and manage copy needs Daily Communication: Respond to questions from inmates and professional staff Interested in learning more. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 12:30 PM to 8:30 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch

This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55 Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $43,247.00 (before taxes).
