Position Description
The Anoka County Library system enriches the community by promoting and supporting ideas, information, and inspiration. Our librarians engage and connect the public through a vast array of library services and resources. The Library Department is seeking an energetic, motivated, and serviceoriented individual to join our team as a Library Supervisor. The Library Supervisor helps ensure smooth daily operations, delivers exceptional customer service, and supports staff in providing highquality library services to the community. This role plays a key part in fostering a welcoming environment, coordinating circulation and cataloging functions, and empowering patrons to access the materials and resources they need. Pay & Benefits

  • Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 32: $64,480.00 to $90,230.40 annually ($31.00 to $43.38 per hour)

Work Location

  • This position will work at Northtown Library, located at 711 County Road 10 NE Blaine MN 55434
  • Expected work hours are Monday-Friday during open library hours and every other Saturday (with a different day of the week off) and two Sundays a quarter.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming environment for all by providing excellent customer service.
  • Hire, evaluate, train, develop, and provide work direction for employees and volunteers.
  • Supervise processing, cataloging, and circulation to ensure movement of materials is responsive to community needs.
  • Responsible for circulation and catalog search training across all Anoka County Library locations.
  • Perform circulation duties including checkout, returns, assessing damages, running reports, and routing materials.
  • Organize and maintain Anoka County's collection and catalog of print, non-print, and digital materials.
  • Empower and connect patrons to appropriate resources. Assist groups and individuals in locating, obtaining, and using materials and services.
  • Determine metrics to collect and review to improve operations.
  • Perform financial transactions including placing orders, processing payments. and reconciling the cash drawer.
  • Troubleshoot computer software and hardware issues. Identify and resolve issues following standard protocols.
  • Maintain current knowledge of county and library policies and procedures. Interpret and communicate policies to patrons and employees as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

  • Requires a bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of job-related experience
  • In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis

Physical Demands and Work Conditions

  • Standard office environment, warehouse, or public library depending on assignment.
  • Frequent distraction and multitasking
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers. Ability to see colors, shades and brightness.
  • Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds.
  • Assignments require several hours of varied physical activity in addition to viewing a computer screen, sitting at a desk, or walking/standing to assist patrons.
  • Physical activity may include repeated bending, stooping, reaching, frequent wrist and finger manipulation to complete computer work, and occasionally pushing carts weighing over 300 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting of 20-50 lbs. while moving materials.
  • Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment.
  • Occasional travel to other county work sites as needed.
  • Travel between work sites may require driving a county vehicle and/or a personal vehicle.
  • Work activities may require contact with uncooperative, angry, and sometimes hostile clients.
  • May be required to use kick stools to reach items from high shelves.
