Job description

Landman Title will be determined by respective level of experience. The Landman will be responsible for acquisition and maintenance of Utica Shale properties as well as negotiations, maintenance, and interpretation of various agreements, leases and contracts. This person will plan, direct and supply land knowledge, leadership and consultation to other co-workers as needed.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide Land support to assigned area of responsibility, working with technical peers and other departments in support of company's development program
  • Review, edit and/or negotiate land related documents such as oil and gas leases, amendments, assignments, joint operating agreements, trade agreements, farmout agreements, pooling agreements, right of way agreements, and title curative documents
  • All phases of review and facilitating of lease maintenance and payment obligations within area of responsibility
  • Monitor continuous development obligations for leases
  • Effectively and efficiently manage brokers in the field
  • Review and cure title deficiencies brought forth within title opinions or personal title examination
  • May perform A&D duties as necessary
  • Manage due diligence activities for property acquisition
  • Manage compliance with statutory requirements and other local regulations related to the Utica
  • Work effectively in a team environment to meet company goals
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Minimum Requirements:
  • Working knowledge of land related documents such as oil and gas leases, title documents, joint operating agreements, and trade agreements
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and written/verbal communication skills.Capable of developing written communications appropriate for internal and external audiences
  • Prior experience working with landowners, joint venture partners, potential partners, and government agencies
  • Ability to multi-task, apply attention to detail, and provide a quality work product
  • Self-starter with ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Familiar with the life-cycle of a well
  • Strong Windows suite skills, including Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook and Land related programs
  • Ability to travel as required
Preferred:
  • Able to foresee issues, be proactive and create solutions and recommendations for problems
  • Ability to mentor other land department employees
Education & Work Experience Required
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3 years of experience as in-house Landman
  • Prior Upstream E&P Industry experience
  • Experience in undertaking the development of operated wells
  • Proven experience with complicated title and contract negotiations
Preferred:
  • Juris Doctor, Energy Management or other Petroleum Land Management like degree
  • Thorough Utica Shale, Appalachia Basin, or Texas experience as in-house Landman
  • 5+ years of experience as in-house Landman
