Description
Summary:
Responsible for assisting with the day to day operation and direct supervision of all activities within the Chef department. Ensure daily operations and experiences meet guest expectations. Appropriately respond to and manage any escalated departmental concerns and guest and/or employee challenges.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Assist with hiring, training, developing, measuring performance, discipline, and scheduling of department staff
  • Assist with leading the tactical execution of strategic initiatives under the direction of division leadership
  • Assist with establishing standards of service within assigned department(s) and ensure achievement
  • Monitor and control labor within the department while maintaining adequate coverage in the department based on business demands
  • Organizes and conducts pre-shift and departmental meetings to advise staff of forecasted expectations.
  • Ensure smooth operation of all back of house culinary areas.
  • Ensure all chefs are aware of projects and products required for their shift.
  • Provide outstanding customer service in a timely manner to both guests and fellow team members
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Position Requirements
Qualifications
  • Five (5) years of experience in food service operations
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in a large hotel/casino preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience, scheduling and budgeting skills.
  • Familiar with operation of kitchen equipment; general sanitation procedures; overall basic food handling
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Understanding of basic accounting procedures and reports; budgetary skills preferred
  • Obtain and maintain all work cards as required by the company
  • Verify right to work in the United States

Work Environment Potential Conditions
The work environment is characterized as a kitchen setting where standard kitchen equipment will be supplied and used as a part of the job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The immediate work environment is smoke free; however a smoking environment does exist in the building.
