Job description

Sol Systems is seeking an exceptional attorney and executive leader to serve as General Counsel. This is a traditional General Counsel role reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and serving as a key advisor to the Executive Team. This role will oversee the company's legal representation and internal legal service as a whole, including managing external counsel relationships and fees, leading and developing the company's in-house legal team, and improving legal process infrastructure.. This role will support complex M&A, corporate, and financing transactions, manage disputes, and ensure capable, timely counsel regarding matters affecting the company generally. This role will provide key support to each of the company's business activities, including infrastructure development, financing, construction, operation, and asset management, as well as related environmental commodities activities.

Requirements

  • At least eight years of experience at AmLaw 200 or comparable law firms or sophisticated energy companies in one or more core legal disciplines supporting the energy infrastructure industry, with an emphasis on project development and financing activities for utility-scale solar.
  • Demonstrated experience advising senior business leaders and supervising and developing teams of legal professionals.
  • Outstanding academic background and deal sheet.

Location & Hours: This is a full-time role and will be in-person in our downtown Washington, DC office.

Compensation: The base salary for this role is between $250,000 and $280,000 annually, depending on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the position. In addition, Sol Systems provides health insurance, retirement benefits, partial gym reimbursement, education benefits, parental leave, paid vacation, sick and federal holidays, and the opportunity to work in a unique and dynamic environment.
