OVERVIEW

The Chief Marketing Officer is responsible for setting the enterprise marketing strategy and accelerating profitable customer and brand growth across Cavender’s retail stores and Ecommerce channels. The CMO owns the company’s customer growth agenda, brand positioning, CRM, loyalty, lifecycle and performance marketing, paid media, content, social media, public relations, customer insights, and marketing technology strategy. This role translates company strategy into an integrated, multi-year marketing roadmap; sets the metrics and investment priorities that guide acquisition, retention, customer lifetime value, and brand health; and ensures a consistent Cavender’s experience across every customer touchpoint. Reporting to the Chief Merchandising Officer, the CMO serves as a strategic advisor to executive leadership and partners closely with Merchandising, Ecommerce, Store Operations, Information Technology, Finance, and other leaders to drive revenue growth, strengthen brand equity, and build long-term enterprise value. The CMO is accountable for marketing investment, organizational capability, and marketing performance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the "Cavender’s Culture" and drive the Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Define and lead the enterprise marketing vision and multi-year strategy aligned with company growth, customer, and financial objectives.
  • Serve as a senior strategic advisor to executive leadership, bringing customer, market, brand, and performance insights into enterprise decisions.
  • Own end-to-end performance of the customer journey across digital and in-store touchpoints and ensure a consistent, differentiated customer experience.
  • Establish full-funnel goals and accountability across customer acquisition, conversion, retention, loyalty, engagement, and customer lifetime value (LTV).
  • Develop and execute customer acquisition, CRM, lifecycle, retention, and loyalty strategies that create sustainable customer and revenue growth.
  • Lead the My Cavender’s loyalty program and the customer data, segmentation, targeting, and personalization strategy that supports deeper customer relationships.
  • Own company-wide brand strategy, positioning, creative, content, public relations, and social media, protecting and strengthening Cavender’s brand voice and equity.
  • Ensure integrated messaging and campaigns across paid, owned, earned, digital, traditional, and in-store channels.
  • Oversee paid media and performance marketing strategy, channel mix, agency performance, and investment allocation across the marketing portfolio.
  • Own annual and multi-year marketing budgets; evaluate ROI, revenue impact, customer economics, and performance to reallocate investment toward the highest-value opportunities.
  • Drive customer demand and profitable growth across Ecommerce and retail channels in partnership with Merchandising, Ecommerce, and Store Operations leadership.
  • Lead customer insights, market research, competitive intelligence, and trend analysis to identify growth opportunities and inform enterprise priorities.
  • Establish and lead testing and optimization frameworks, including A/B testing, personalization, and customer journey refinement.
  • Partner with Information Technology and Ecommerce to define the marketing technology and customer data roadmap, including CRM, CDP, analytics, and automation capabilities.
  • Build executive-level measurement and reporting frameworks that translate marketing performance into clear insights, forecasts, recommendations, and actions.
  • Lead agency, media, vendor, and external partner relationships with clear performance standards, governance, and accountability.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressive marketing leadership experience, including senior or executive-level responsibility in retail, Ecommerce, consumer goods, lifestyle, or a comparable multi-channel business.
  • Proven track record of building, integrating, and scaling marketing capabilities while delivering measurable revenue, customer, and brand growth.
  • Deep experience across performance marketing, CRM/lifecycle marketing, loyalty, paid media, digital marketing, and Ecommerce growth.
  • Experience developing and scaling loyalty, retention, customer data, segmentation, targeting, and personalization strategies.
  • Proven brand leadership across positioning, creative, content, public relations, social media, and integrated omnichannel campaigns.
  • Significant marketing budget and investment ownership with strong business and financial acumen and the ability to connect marketing spend to ROI, revenue, margin, and customer lifetime value.
  • Experience building and developing high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams and senior leaders through growth, transformation, or organizational change.
  • Executive presence and exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence senior leadership, align cross-functional teams, and represent the company externally.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex customer and performance data into strategy, business decisions, and action.
  • Experience with marketing technology and customer data platforms, including CRM, CDPs, analytics, automation tools, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Based in Tyler, TX at our Home Office.
PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Retail, Western lifestyle, fashion, or consumer brand experience.
  • Experience leading marketing across a large store footprint and Ecommerce/omnichannel environment.
  • Experience leveraging digital analytics and experimentation tools (e.g., GA4, A/B testing, personalization); familiarity with SQL or advanced audience analytics is a plus.
  • Experience leading creative agencies, media partners, influencers, and strategic brand partnerships.
