Summary of Position
This is a Full-time position directly responsible to the FAA-Chief Flight Instructor whose overall duties and responsibilities are: to assist with the flight operations of the Aviation Department, conduct stage checks as assigned, and provide Flight Instruction for the students to obtain pilot certificates and ratings.
Education and Experience
Associates Degree from a nationally, regionally or identified at the state level accredited institution of higher education in aviation or related field required. Bachelor's degree in Aviation preferred. Commercial Pilot License with ASEL, and Instrument ratings. Flight Instructor Certificate for ASEL is required. Flight Instructor Certificate-Instrument and AMEL are preferred.
Classroom teaching experience. Must have a minimum of 400 hours total flight time and 100 hours of dual instruction given. 1,000 hours total flight time, 500 hours of dual instruction given, and one year of full-time flight instruction preferred. Management experience preferred.
Knowledge Skills and Ability
  • Must be able to retain an FAA Medical Certificate
  • Classroom instruction experience is preferred.
  • Must be proficient on FAA Part 141 regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others to include faculty, staff, students, administrators, etc.
  • Knowledge of CTC policies.

Essential Functions
  • Deliver individualized flight instruction for courses ranging from primary to advanced levels, adhering to FAA training standards.
  • Conduct stage checks for flight courses as designated by the FAA Chief Flight Instructor, for which the Flight Operations Assistant has been appointed as a Check Instructor.
  • Maintain pilot school documentation and academic records in compliance with Federal Aviation Administration regulations, as directed by the FAA Chief Flight Instructor.
  • Perform weekly inspections of flight records and conduct periodic evaluations of current flight and ground training syllabi.
  • Monitor and periodically report to the FAA Chief Flight Instructor on student progress and the pass rates for FAA Practical and Written exams.
  • Ensure the security of the building and its equipment.
  • Assist in keeping TSA records updated.
  • Support the FAA Chief Flight Instructor in enforcing and maintaining Flight Safety Procedures.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned by the FAA Chief Flight Instructor.
