Job description

Commercial HVAC Estimator & Business Development โ€“ (Design/Build, ESOP & High Commission)

$150,000 - $300,000+ Potential โ€ข Greater Madison Area โ€ข Employee-Owned (ESOP) Join a premier, design/build HVAC contractor that is leveraging a massive existing project backlog and a high-reward commission structure with a flexible schedule

  • EXPERIENCE 5+ Years HVAC or Construction Sales Estimating
  • COMP $40k Base + Uncapped Commission ($150k - $300k+ total earning potential)
  • LOCATION Greater Madison area
  • TYPE Full-Time, Permanent, W-2
  • BENEFITS ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership), 401(k), Medical/Dental/Vision
  • TRAVEL Local with occasional regional site visits
  • OFFICE 100% Onsite/Field โ€” Not a remote or work-from-home position

This is a high-impact, newly created role designed for a "hunter" who wants the autonomy of a business owner with the backing of an industry leading employee design/build firm known for tackling massive commercial projects, from healthcare facilities to high-rise developments. Unlike rigid corporate roles, this position offers an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan), meaning you literally own a piece of the success you help create.

The schedule is built for high performersโ€”you aren't tied to a desk. You will have the flexibility to structure your day between the office, job sites, and client meetings to maximize your pipeline. With more work than the firm can currently handle and a strategic focus on capturing "quick hitter" projects to bridge market fluctuations, the earning potential is limited only by your ability to close and estimate accurately.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Pursuing and developing long-term relationships with General Contractors and facility owners for new construction and service division opportunities
  • Estimating mechanical project costs, material requirements, and manpower hours for diverse commercial HVAC systems
  • Leading the "Design/Build" lifecycle by communicating project requirements to the design team, field superintendents, and project managers
  • Initiating new sales contacts and soliciting material bids to assemble competitive, high-margin quotes
  • Attending pre-construction and job closeout meetings to ensure a seamless handoff between sales and project execution
  • Monitoring project progress and providing recommendations to ensure total customer satisfaction and profitability
  • Managing a portfolio of established maintenance clients to ensure recurring service revenue

What We Are Looking For
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in the HVAC industry or equivalent technical sales/estimating experience within the construction sector
  • Technical Knowledge: General mastery of HVAC design, local codes, and various mechanical installations
  • Interpersonal Skills: Proven ability to build rapport with General Contractors, field foremen, and internal design teams
  • Software Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Office; a strong willingness to learn Quote Soft for precision estimating
  • Attributes: High level of initiative, integrity, and the organizational skills to manage multiple high-stakes bids simultaneously
  • Reliability: A solid work history with a track record of meeting revenue targets and accurate documentation
  • Requirements: Must reside within 45 minutes of the Madison area and be a US Citizen or Green Card holder
