Senior Cost Analyst

Key Details

  • Employment Type: Full-time, direct hire
  • Compensation: $85,000 – $98,000 annually
  • Schedule: Day shift, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Work Arrangement: Hybrid (up to 2 remote days per week; remote work not permitted on Mondays or Fridays)

Position Overview

Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the Senior Cost Analyst is responsible for leading the implementation and ongoing management of a comprehensive costing system, with a primary focus on coating operations within corrosion control manufacturing environments. This role plays a critical part in enhancing cost accuracy, improving margin visibility, and supporting data-driven financial and operational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead implementation and ongoing support of the Cost Configurator module within JDE
  • Partner with plant leadership to provide financial analysis and support operational decision-making
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of job costing standards, including annual and ad hoc cost roll processes
  • Oversee work order processing, including material issues, labor postings, and variance analysis
  • Analyze and monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and outside process clearing accounts
  • Prepare and analyze month-end reports, including variance and operational efficiency metrics (OEE)
  • Evaluate plant processes, including:
    • Purchased parts cost verification
    • Router development
    • Overhead cost validation
    • Labor rate verification
  • Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecasts (hours, headcount, and direct/indirect production expenses)
  • Perform SOX compliance activities, including WIP reconciliation, subledger aging, inventory reconciliation, and segregation of duties
  • Review balance sheet and P&L accounts and provide detailed variance explanations
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analyses for plant and operations leadership
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to costing and financial processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
  • Minimum 5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and manufacturing cost structures
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with JDE or similar ERP systems, particularly in job costing
  • Solid understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and manufacturing accounting controls

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Hyperion and SmartView
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret large datasets and identify trends
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders
  • Experience supporting or leading ERP implementations
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
  • Leadership potential with the ability to build and manage a team in the future
