Your Day to Day:
As a Cook at Amenida Senior Community, your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and serving home-cooked meals using fresh, real ingredients for a large group of residents.
  • Planning and prepping meals for the current and following day.
  • Assisting the Food Service Manager with kitchen operations as needed.
  • Ensuring proper food presentation and portion control.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in all food preparation areas in accordance with health regulations.
  • Supporting kitchen tasks including lifting, bending, twisting, and standing for long periods.
  • Cleaning kitchen equipment and work areas according to established standards.
  • Adhering to safety and food handling protocols at all times.
  • Focusing on preparing authentic Korean cuisine to meet the cultural and dietary preferences of residents.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Proven experience working in a busy kitchen environment; experience in a senior care, healthcare, or institutional setting is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare large-batch meals while maintaining quality, taste, presentation, food safety, and dietary requirements.
  • Valid Food Handler Certificate.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience preparing Korean cuisine, including the ability to prepare traditional Korean dishes in a large-volume food service environment.
  • Ability to safely perform the physical duties associated with food service, including standing for extended periods, lifting and carrying supplies and equipment, bending, reaching, and other related tasks, with or without accommodation.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required by the position and applicable scheduling requirements.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check, where required, prior to employment, in accordance with applicable legislation and organizational requirements
