Job description

Manager, Process Management - Construction Monitoring
This role is for the Manager of the Construction Monitoring (CM) team for Small Business Bank. The primary risk of all construction loans is the non-completion of the construction project and ensuring the project is completed within budget. To mitigate that risk, the SBB CM team monitors all ground-up construction projects for owner-occupied and investor real estate, all renovation, rehabilitation and tenant fit loans as per policy, when the scope of work includes structural work, or if the complexity of the project and scope of work warrants CM. The scope for this role includes leading a small team of associates who are responsible for completing the monitoring activities, as well as executing monitoring for a portion of the portfolio.
Responsibilities

Thrive in fast-paced environments, navigating ambiguity with informed decision-making and a flexible leadership approach that adapts to diverse team dynamics. Demonstrating integrity and acting as a trusted advisor as aligned with organizational values for your direct reports, peers, and senior leadership.
Full-Cycle Project Management: Oversee commercial construction projects from setup to permanent facility transfer, including document review, inspector coordination, and the analysis of Contractor Applications for Payment to ensure projects remain on time and on budget.
Financial & Risk Administration: Manage periodic draw requests, title updates, and insurance policies while mitigating portfolio risk by ensuring strict adherence to loan requirements, program objectives, and internal bank policies.
Data Integrity & Reporting:Maintain complex monitoring systems and budgets via advanced Excel/Google Sheets; prepare detailed operational reporting on portfolio health, collateral, and advances for leadership review.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Business Bankers, Underwriters, Closers, and Attorneys to navigate pre- and post-approval processes, providing technical subject matter expertise to ensure seamless loan closings.
Audit & Compliance Oversight:Ensure 100% compliance with security policies, regulatory requirements, and internal audit standards through diligent research and proactive problem resolution.
Relationship Management: Act as a primary point of contact for internal staff and clients, resolving complex inquiries and fostering a collaborative environment across the construction lending lifecycle.
What skills you need to bring to the table:
  • Strong Leadership: You will influence, challenge and enable associates and leaders to solve complex problems, determine solutions, and lead through changes as the key leadership figure.
  • Exceptional Communicator: You will be communicating and partnering with your team and key stakeholders across all levels of the company. Excellent verbal and written communication will be critical to your day to day work life.
