Northrop Grumman Space Systems - Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Staff Configuration Analyst to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Huntsville, AL.
The selected Sr. Principal Configuration Analyst will join the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapons System (GWS) Configuration Management and Data Management (CM/DM) Team operating in a leadership capacity; influencing successful and compliant execution of all phases of Configuration & Data Management (CDM) principles (planning, configuration identification, change control, status accounting, verification/audits, and data management).
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee CM/DM activities across the GMD weapon-system portfolio, encompassing software, subcontractor-produced hardware, and all sites - driving sound standardization and implementing best CDM practices.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between CM/DM, internal teams and external customers, delivering clear, concise technical guidance and status updates.
    • Build high performing relationships with customer counterparts and interface as needed to support work scope.
    • Engage daily with GWS leadership/product teams and functional areas on matters of configuration and change management.
  • Ensure that configuration control is applied to complex engineering changes within the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee change-control activities, evaluate configuration impacts, and certify baseline revisions.
  • Ensure build procedures, baseline repositories, and compatibility matrices are accessible, reliable, repeatable, and logistically sustainable.
  • Govern configuration-data repositories to maintain data integrity, traceability, security and accessibility.
  • Lead the team's status-accounting, verification, and audit functions, delivering accurate reports to customers and stakeholders.
  • Ensure the harmonization of CDM processes and tools while championing innovative solutions to improve efficiency.
  • Identify key performance indicators/metrics and present findings/reports to management and within the program.
  • Operate and plan in an Agile environment.

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations and work closely with Program/Engineering leadership to ensure long-term/short-term milestones are accomplished.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree plus 8 years of relevant experience in Configuration Management (CM)/Data Management (DM); or a Master's Degree plus 6 years of relevant experience; or a PhD. and 4 year of relevant experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and must have the ability to obtain a DOD security clearance to a level of Secret, which is required to start
  • Strong understanding and experience with the implementation of configuration management standards and practices (e.g., ISO, ANSI, CMII) and baseline management
  • Strong knowledge of how business processes work together to ensure interfaces with other business processes are efficient
  • Demonstrated leadership and the ability to manage the performance of a diverse organization
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in achieving results through understanding and management of internal customer relationships, prioritization, and delegation of tasks
  • Experience understanding and translating contractual requirements into program planning activities
  • Experience managing customer deliverables (CDRLs) and/or supplier deliverables (SDRLs)
  • Experience working configuration management in a highly regulated industry
  • Skilled in conducting Root Cause & Corrective Analysis and implementing preventative solutions
  • Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment full-time
  • Ability and willingness to travel 10% to support business needs

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong Software CM background; well versed in managing multiple baselines
  • Experience operating in Agile development environments
  • Experience using Bitbucket, Confluence, and Jira
  • Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) tools
  • Experience running and analyzing Checksum scans
  • Experience supporting and presenting at program reviews
  • Familiarity with the Missile Defense Agency (MAP) Assurance Provisions
  • Certification in Configuration Management (e.g., CMII-P, CMC).
  • Experience in developing impact assessments and proposals estimations

Primary Level Salary Range: $112,200.00 - $168,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
