About this Role:
As a Computer Support Specialist, you will Provide support of information technology (I.T.) operations and controls for the Chicago Airports Residential Sound Insulation RSIP (RSIP), including database support, end user support, and computer hardware/software maintenance and upgrades. You will be responsible for I.T. operations, database support, and coordinates network and server access through other CDA consultants and CDA Information Technology and Telecommunications (CDA ITT). You will report to the Manager of Operations and Controls. Normally receives little day-to-day instruction; receives general instructions on new assignments. Proactively performs tasks without direction or prompt. Can perform most job functions independently.
Key Responsibilities:
  • User Support
    • Provides set up, testing, and installation of PCs, laptops, printers, telephones, and network connections.
    • Provides onboarding I.T. support for new RSIP staff, including telephone, software, and account credentials set up and management.
    • Maintains interface with current CDA servers.
    • Provides database support to users.
    • Provides assistance to all RSIP staff in the event of any software, system, or hardware issues or failure.
    • Provides assistance to all RSIP staff in the event of any telephone, telephone recording, or email issues.
    • Provides assistance to teleworking staff in the event of Virtual Private Network and/or Remote Desktop connection issues.
    • Provides assistance to staff in the event they require an understanding of how to use specific features of software, hardware, telephones, or email.
  • Network Support
    • Maintains network server access for all PCs, copiers, and printers.
    • Maintains and regularly verifies/tests backups and recovery procedures of network files.
    • Manages the security of all systems and security patches.
  • Asset Management
    • Tracks and documents all I.T. related hardware and software assets on a pre-established asset inventory spreadsheet.
    • Develops recommendations for equipment and software upgrades or replacements.
    • Develops I.T. equipment replacement plans incorporating required upgrades and implements set up and testing of equipment replacements.
    • Develops equipment surplus documentation for outdated or non-functioning equipment that can be donated, recycled, or otherwise repurposed by the CDA and assists with the surplus walkthrough and removal of equipment.
    • Manages and maintains hardware and software licensing agreements.
    • May be asked to assist with tracking and documenting office and field equipment assets.
    • May be asked to research I.T. related hardware and software, office equipment, and field equipment for purchase
  • Systems Support
    • Assists in the development of the RSIP database, including standard queries and reports, user roles and privileges, and system error troubleshooting.
    • Coordinates interface with current CDA program and project management systems, including the Cost Management System (CMS), Capital Program Information and Control System (CPICS), and SharePoint.

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • A+ certification or equivalent demonstrating knowledge of all Windows operating systems including: Microsoft Windows 10, Microsoft Windows 11, Microsoft SQL Server 2014/2016/2017/2019/2022, and SQL Server 2016/2017/2019/2022 Express
  • Associate's degree in Computer Technology, or equivalent, required; bachelor's degree preferred.

Compensation Range:
  • $70,000-$88,000 annually
