Job description

Job Title: Retail Sales Associate

Hours: Full-time, weekends required

Department: Retail - Fillmore and Powell Street locations

Report: Store Managerย

Wage: $24/hour, untipped

ย ย

About Us

Dandelion Chocolate is a bean-to-bar chocolate factory in San Franciscoโ€™s Mission District. We make chocolate from only two ingredientsโ€”cocoa beans and cane sugarโ€”and travel to origins as often as possible to build good, trusting relationships with the producers who grow and ferment the beans we buy. We are looking for a Retail Associate who is eager to assist our guests, sample chocolate, and keep our store looking its best.ย

ย

About the Job

With the variety of guests, youโ€™ll spend a lot of time discussing our mission, story, and chocolate. Throughout the day, youโ€™ll be restocking our shelves, ringing up guests on the register, and preparing and boxing up orders. In the morning, you may guide guests through the shop and sample out chocolate. In the afternoon, you might be on the register, ringing up guests and ensuring theyโ€™ve taken care of everything on their holiday lists. After a deep dive training into our chocolate-making processes and products, youโ€™ll be ready to jump in and get your hands dirty. We are hiring for one associate, who will work in two of our locations: Fillmore Street and our Powell Street pop-up. This position starts at $24 per hour.

ย

About You

Our ideal candidate is outgoing, organized, and enjoys interacting with the diverse guests that stop by our store. You take pride in perfectly stocked shelves and engaging with our guests. You love to share knowledge and make people excited to come back with friends and share their newfound knowledge. As a reliable team member, your team knows they can depend upon you to uphold our standards and work collaboratively throughout the shift. Previous specialty coffee, craft food, or retail experience is a plus.

ย

Responsibilities

  • Be timely, dress professionally, and be ready to work through your shift
  • Complete necessary Dandelion Chocolate training.
  • Develop a quick rapport with guests by detailing our chocolate-making process, answering questions, recommending products, and sampling chocolate.
  • Help maintain store appearance following our stores' visual presentation standards through restocking and general housekeeping procedures.
  • Ensure that each guest receives the best possible experience.ย
  • Other tasks as necessary
ย

Requirements

  • Full-time availability and weekend availabilityย ย
  • Proven ability to excel within a team environment
  • Previous guest-facing experience
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, read computer terminals, push, pull or move objects of at least 25 pounds and maneuver around the sales floor, including repetitive bending and prolonged standing.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule to meet our needs, including evening and weekend shifts and major shopping days such as Black Friday and during the December holidays
  • California-approved Food Handlerโ€™s Certification is required upon hire
ย

Benefits

Dandelion Chocolate constantly invests in our people and culture. All team members receive medical, vision, and dental benefits as well as the option to enroll in our 401k program. All employees receive paid vacation time, holiday pay, and paid sick time. In addition, our team members enjoy commuter benefits, FSAs, local gym discounts, chocolate tasting opportunities, the chance to travel to origin and our Japan locations, and a range of opportunities to grow and develop within the company.

How to Apply
Dandelion is growing and we are invested in employees who take ownership over their role and are interested in contributing in a bigger way with us. If you are interested, weโ€™d like to see your resume and a cover letter that shares your favorite food or hospitality experience. Keep in mind that we value passion, attitude, and hard work, so tell us what inspires you to want to join our production team.
