Is AI replacing designers?

AI is increasingly used as a tool to assist catalog layout designers by automating repetitive tasks and generating design suggestions. Job description

NIKE, Inc. designs the future - it celebrates those who live the game everywhere. From the stadium to the streets, global football is more than a sport; it's a movement, a voice, a culture.
We're looking for people who bring creativity, curiosity, and conviction to everything they do. People who understand the language of global football - the energy, the rhythm, and the community behind it - and can turn that into bold design that inspires the next generation.
At Nike, we design the future of the world's game. We chase ideas that redefine style, movement, and culture. Our designers are explorers - combining performance with expression, innovation with imagination, and the athlete's voice with the street's influence.
WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH
You'll report directly to the Design Director, Global Football Apparel, and collaborate closely with partners across Product Management, Development, Innovation, Footwear, Color, and Graphics, as well as with creative voices outside Nike.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for a designer who lives and breathes global football, not just as a sport, but as a cultural force. Someone who understands that the game doesn't end at full time, it continues in the streets, in music, in style, in everyday movement.
As our Expert Designer, Branded Global Football Apparel, you'll lead the creative vision for Street Football. You'll help define how Nike expresses the sport through fashion, streetwear, and contemporary culture, creating a new language for the next era of Global Football Apparel.
You'll combine sharp design instincts with strategic discipline, balancing creative expression with the structure and collaboration required to operate inside a global brand. You'll be as passionate about building design systems as you are about breaking creative boundaries.
You'll have the honor and responsibility of helping to write a new playbook for Nike Global Football, crafting product stories that connect global football's roots to its future.
WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON
You'll lead the creation of style-led, culturally relevant global football apparel, translating global trends and athlete insights into collections that move seamlessly from pitch to street.
Your focus will be to elevate Nike's position in street global football, shaping the creative direction across lifestyle, training, and team-wear expressions that reflect the energy of the modern game.
From concept ideation to final execution, you'll drive the design process, researching, sketching, creating mood boards, defining materials and trims, and guiding prototypes through development. You'll collaborate with partners across design, marketing, and development to ensure creative excellence, innovation, and consistency.
This role requires curiosity, courage, and collaboration and the vision to imagine how global football can look and feel for the next generation.
Role Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Apparel/Fashion Design or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience, and training.
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience in a design environment working with materials, trims, design and fit.
  • Exceptional ability to apply and perform design skills, including hand drawing/sketching, hand illustrations, need to be well versed in Adobe Illustrator, concept ideation, color theory, use of texture, spacing and scale, visual presentation development and layout.
  • High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Comprehensive understanding of garment construction and fit.
  • Comprehensive understanding of textile sciences.
  • Comprehensive understanding of apparel trims.
  • 3D design program experience is a plus.
  • Ability to build design worlds, mood boards and presentations of creative vision.
  • Ability to translate consumer and athlete insights into product solutions and narratives.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including ability to inspire, involve and mentor others within work group.
  • Accustomed to working in a rapidly changing, high growth environment and to manage multiple and competing work priorities, demands and changes.
  • Embody the passion to work on innovation and style.
  • An enthusiastic and positive attitude and the ability to work efficiently in a quick paced environment.
