Minimum Requirements:
  • 2 years' experience in food service in a congregate care, industrial, or institutional capacity required
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Driver's License and ability to maintain insurability throughout employment required

Position Summary: The Senior Cook prepares meals and snacks in accordance with menus planned by the Director and Assistant Director of Food Services and Consulting Dietitian. You will work collaboratively with Program Directors and program staff to ensure children in program are receiving the necessary nutrients. The Senior Cook is responsible for maintaining sanitary conditions in the kitchen, cooler, freezers, serving area and dining hall. This position also supervises, teaches, and is a role model for youth.
Responsibilities:
  • Assists children who work in the kitchen, who participate in the youth work program.
  • Coordinate with Food Service Director, Assistant Food Service Director, and other cooks to assist in maintaining excellent sanitary conditions in the kitchen.
  • Coordinate with the Food Service Director and Assistant Director to assure that all food and other supplies are ordered with weekly menus.
  • Assist in filling food and supply orders.
  • Attend and help serve food and beverages at events on campus or at satellite locations.

Requirements
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required

Experience:
  • Two years' experience in food service in a residential or institutional capacity required
  • Driver's License and ability to maintain insurability throughout employment required
