Job description

About the role

The Annuity SDR is the first point of contact for prospective customers exploring annuity products with Ethos. This is a junior, licensed role focused on qualifying leads and setting appointments for our full-time Annuity Sales Representatives - not closing business. Because you're licensed, you'll be able to speak knowledgeably about annuity basics and Ethos' offerings during the qualification conversation, without getting into full product recommendations or sales.

This role is also a growth path: strong performers who want to move into a full-time, commission-eligible Annuity Sales Rep seat will have the opportunity to advance, using this role to build product knowledge, phone skills, and a track record.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Engage inbound and outbound leads via calls, email, and SMS to qualify interest and fit for annuity products
  • Conduct discovery to understand a prospect's financial situation, goals, and timeline
  • Provide light, licensed-appropriate education on annuities and how Ethos' products work - enough to qualify and build trust, not to close
  • Set qualified appointments for licensed Annuity Sales Representatives and hand off with clean, complete context
  • Manage and prioritize a pipeline of leads through Salesforce (or equivalent CRM), including consistent follow-up
  • Maintain accurate records of licensing status, disclosures, and required compliance touchpoints on every call
  • Partner with the Annuity Sales team to refine qualification criteria and improve appointment show/close rates
  • Hit monthly/quarterly targets for qualified appointments set
  • Build toward eligibility for promotion into a full-time Annuity Sales Representative role

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Active state life insurance license required at time of hire - candidates must already be licensed; unlicensed candidates will not be considered
  • 1 year of sales or telesales experience - this is an entry-level/junior role; prior insurance experience is a plus but not required
  • Strong verbal communication skills; comfortable discussing financial products with a wide range of customers
  • Coachable and eager to grow into a closing sales role
  • Comfortable with high call volume and a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment
  • Working knowledge of CRM tools (Salesforce or similar) preferred
  • Strong organizational skills; able to manage a multi-stage pipeline
  • Based in the US (state-specific licensing requirement)
