Job Summary
We are seeking a vigilant, safety-minded individual to join our team as a Firewatch Laborer at our busy corrugated box manufacturing facility. In this critical safety role, you will monitor production areas, hot-work zones (welding, cutting, grinding), and machinery to identify, prevent, and respond to potential fire hazards. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is highly observant, reliable, and looking for a steady, full-time weekend schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hazard Monitoring: Maintain a continuous, watchful eye on hot-work operations, machinery, and paper dust accumulation to spot sparks, smoke, or smoldering materials instantly.
  • Routine Patrols: Conduct regular walk-throughs of assigned facility zones to ensure fire lanes, extinguishers, and exits remain clear and accessible.
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to extinguish small, localized sparks immediately using a fire extinguisher or water hose, and sound the alarm instantly for larger hazards.
  • General Maintenance/Labor: Assist with basic plant cleanup, clearing combustible materials (like loose cardboard and heavy dust build-up) from work areas during downtime.
  • Clear Communication: Maintain direct communication with maintenance teams, machine operators, and facility supervisors regarding any safety risks.
Physical Requirements
  • Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, and remain on your feet for the duration of a 12-hour shift.
  • Vision & Awareness: Sharp vision and a high level of situational awareness to spot hazards in a loud, active manufacturing environment.
  • Environment: Comfortable working in a bustling industrial plant that can become hot, dusty, and loud.
Requirements
  • Strong work ethic and an absolute commitment to perfect weekend attendance.
  • Prior experience in firewatch, industrial safety, or general construction labor is a major plus, but we will train the right candidate.
  • Ability to strictly follow OSHA standards and facility safety guidelines.
  • Must pass all required onboarding screenings (drug screen and background check).
