To thrive as a Freelance Medical Coder, you need a solid understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and coding systems, often demonstrated by a certification such as CPC or CCS. Familiarity with coding software, electronic health records (EHR), and billing platforms is typically required. Attention to detail, time management, and effective communication with clients and healthcare providers are crucial soft skills.
