Compensation: up to $32/hour
Schedule: Part-time and Full-time shifts available:
Monday through Thursday:
  • Evening Shift: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM OR 4:30 PM - 10:00 PM
  • Fri/Sat/Sun Off!
Position Purpose
The Building and Construction Trades Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and hands-on training to prepare students for careers in the skilled trades. Teaching areas include Air Conditioning and Refrigeration and Controls, Commercial Equipment and Repair, Structural Building Repair, Plumbing Applications, and Tiling, Flooring, and General Repairs. This role ensures students gain practical skills, industry knowledge, and confidence through engaging lessons and up-to-date learning resources.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Teach classes as assigned on a regular, scheduled basis as assigned and create a welcoming environment for students conducive to learning.
  • Assist Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education, or Campus Executive Director in developing curriculum, preparing course materials, and scheduling.
  • Establish and maintain academic and attendance records for student files.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly classroom and lab.
  • Submit attendance, grades, student evaluation and all other required documents/reports per established procedures.
  • Notify Supervisor of any potential issues that may require immediate attention.
  • Actively utilize proven retention techniques approved by the school.
  • Complete performance-based teacher education modules as assigned by Supervisor and/or campus management, as needed based on outcomes of classroom observations, instructor evaluations, and student-completed surveys.
  • Assist with the department equipment and supplies inventory and submit purchase requests accordingly and as needed.
  • Assist with the maintenance and utilization of equipment used in the program.
  • Attend and/or conduct in-service training, faculty meetings or other mandatory meetings.
  • Alert Supervisor to student absences, especially on first, third and fifth absence occurrences.
  • Perform other tasks that may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Required Qualifications
  • OSHA 10-hour safety certification within 6 months of hire date.
  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Section 608 Refrigerant Transition Certification within 6 months of hire date.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum three (3) years of hands-on practical experience in the building and construction trades is required
  • Must demonstrate up-to-date knowledge and continuing study of the subject matter.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, performance-driven, compliance-oriented educational environment.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, highly organized, and have the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity, strong work ethic, and professionalism.
  • Persuasive and effective verbal and written communication skills, with a strong focus on customer service in an educational setting.
  • Highly motivated and goal-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and as collaborative team member and have exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer skills are required with proficiency in MS Office applications including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Exhibits a positive, team-oriented attitude by remaining flexible and available to work outside of scheduled hours when needed, as directed by the Supervisor.
