JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Skills Trade Instructor Assistant
Department: Workforce Development (WFD)
Reports to: Director of Education, Training/Vocational Rehabilitation
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary:
Assist the Skills Trade Instructor in industrial, commercial, and multi-dwelling maintenance, covering areas like electrical, HVAC/EPA, heat pump installation and maintenance, and solar installation and storage for the Clean Tech Accelerator, train-the-trainer program. It includes shadowing two training cohorts led by a partner and prepares the instructor trainee to teach future cohorts. The course combines theoretical, practical, and hands-on components, including classroom teaching, lab work, recruitment, placement, and business engagement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Set up the lab for computer usage and/or hands-on training.
Assist the instructor with lectures, labs, and demonstrations.
Assist with delivering the technical Clean Tech training curricula to trainees.
Assist in facilitating skills trade-related training instruction and hands-on lab courses.
Lead discussion sessions or review sessions.
Assist students with technical issues (online courses).
Communicate course updates, reminders, or announcements to students.
Keeps current on developments regarding instructional methodology. 
Assist in developing, grading, administering, and facilitating quizzes, exams, or other tools to evaluate student progress. 
Manage classroom activities by enforcing standards, rules, and regulations. 
Serve as a leader and a role model, demonstrating high values and mentoring junior staff members.
Assist in on-site solar and solar electrical installation (train-the-trainer) as needed.
Assist in evaluating each student's performance.   
Work collaboratively with other personnel and service providers.
Responsible for establishing a respectful relationship with persons served while helping the client gain skills and confidence that will empower them.
Provide feedback to senior leadership regarding course progress, suggested improvements or problems that may impact program quality or stability.

Assist with strategy and planning related to the overall program requirements and recruiting.
Responsible for compiling, analyzing, and reporting data and outcome measures as needed by funder requirements.
Engaged with skills trade sector employers to place and support programs and training.

Work effectively and holistically with Career Center and other program staff to assure appropriate client/student recruitment, 95 percent graduation rate, 80 percent job placement, and 70 percent job retention rates.
Other duties as assigned by management.

Adheres to local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
The ability to travel to various job-shadowing sites as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate’s degree or higher is preferred.
One (1) year of demonstrated experience in building and/or apartment maintenance skills, to include but not limited to electrical, HVAC/EPA, pool maintenance, plumbing and appliance troubleshooting and repair/skilled trades and/or two (2) year as an assistant trainer of solar installation work is required.
College or vocational training is required.
Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) is a plus.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office desktop applications, Gmail, Google Apps, and telephone protocol.
Must be reliable, accountable, and detail-oriented.
Must have a valid state driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI):
Meet or exceed all portfolio programs’ outputs, outcomes, and goals for the (calendar/fiscal) year.

Maintain the 90% industry placement rate.
Obtain a minimum of 80% successful Program exam passing rate, and an increase in passing rate for each cohort.
Provide wraparound service referrals to 90% of participants to achieve a minimum of one short-term goal identified on the needs assessment (IDP).
Support recruitment efforts for five (5) cohorts each calendar year.
Support assessment efforts for good-fit candidates of the program.
Support coordinating three (3) Career Pathway Graduation Ceremonies each calendar year.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
Ability to sit, stand, bend, and reach.
Ability to lift, push, pull, up to, 50 lbs.
