What is a freelance agency?

A Freelance Agency job involves working as an independent contractor under an agency that connects clients with freelancers. These agencies act as intermediaries, handling client acquisition, project management, and sometimes payments. Freelancers get access to a steady stream of work without having to find clients themselves. This setup provides flexibility while benefiting from the agency’s established reputation and resources.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a freelance agency position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Freelance Agency, strong project management skills, business development expertise, and knowledge in areas such as marketing, content creation, or design are essential, along with experience managing multiple clients. Familiarity with CRM tools, project management platforms such as Asana or Trello, and relevant industry certifications help streamline operations and improve client outcomes. Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills set successful agencies apart by fostering trust and long-term client relationships. These skills are crucial for efficiently managing multiple projects, upholding quality, and ensuring sustained agency growth.

What are the main challenges faced by a freelance agency, and how can they be managed?

One of the main challenges faced by a Freelance Agency is balancing the workload of multiple clients while maintaining high standards across projects. Time management and clear communication are critical to ensure deadlines are met and client expectations are aligned. Additionally, consistent business development is necessary to maintain a healthy client pipeline and steady income. Building strong relationships through reliable service and seeking ongoing feedback can help overcome these challenges and support long-term agency success.

How do I join a freelance agency?

To join a freelance agency, you typically need to create a professional profile highlighting your skills, experience, and portfolio. Many agencies require applicants to submit an application or proposal, sometimes including a skills test or interview, and may ask for relevant certifications or work samples. Once accepted, you can start receiving job opportunities through the agency's platform or network.

Creative Director

Full Time Atlanta, GA, US

4 days ago Requisition ID: 1028

About The Big Green Egg, Inc.

At Big Green Egg, we're not just the best Kamado grill on the market; we are a lifestyle brand dedicated to enhancing outdoor entertaining. We believe in bringing families, friends, and neighbors together to cook over live fire. Our Egghead community of loyal fans create memories with the food they prepare on their Eggs. With a 50-year history and an iconic presence in the outdoor kitchen category, we're committed to a premium product experience, online, offline, and everywhere in between.

Our team is focused on premium products, seamless experiences both online and offline, and a culture that celebrates food, hospitality, craftsmanship and community. Employees enjoy a collaborative work environment, regular food and BBQ experiences as a weekly perk, and competitive benefits — including a 401(k) match, medical and life insurance, and more.

Position Summary

The Creative Director will evolve and steward the brand's creative vision and visual identity for Big Green Egg. This role is responsible for brand system development and governance, multi-channel campaign and content strategy, and end-to-end customer experience design, working closely with Marketing, Ecommerce, Product, Sales, and Customer Experience leadership.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on creative leader, strategic brand builder, and systems thinker, with the ability to balance visionary creativity with disciplined operational execution in a fast-paced, brand-focused environment. Success in this role will be measured by brand consistency across all touchpoints, campaign and content effectiveness, creative output quality and velocity, and cross-functional partner satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Essential functions of the role include:

  • Evolve Big Green Egg's creative and visual identity for its next era — stewarding a living brand system across design language, photography, motion, voice, and the standards that govern all of it — while honoring the legacy and authenticity that make BGE distinctly itself.
  • Personally produce hero creative when the moment calls for it, including campaign concepts, key art, and packaging direction, and hold the team, agencies, and partners to the same standard.
  • Lead the development of campaign platforms, brand narratives, and content strategies that go beyond product features and into brand mythology — turning Eggheads, their rituals, recipes, and stories into content the world wants to watch, share, and return to.
  • Oversee brand films, editorial content, and seasonal storytelling that captures the depth and passion of the BGE community.
  • Direct creative across the full customer journey: packaging and structural design, dealer and retail environments, ecommerce, owned content, community events, and post-purchase touchpoints.
  • Partner with Product, Ecommerce, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Service to ensure creative expression drives real customer outcomes — loyalty, advocacy, repeat purchase, and trust — and establish brand governance that protects consistency without stifling energy.
  • Manage prioritization and capacity planning for a lean internal team and a curated freelance bench and establish operating cadences with cross-functional leadership so creative is upstream of execution, not a downstream service.
  • Manage agency and freelance partnerships for quality, speed, and cost — knowing when to insource and when to extend — and build the briefs, review rituals, and lightweight dashboards that scale craft without slowing it down.
  • Cultivate a strategic network of freelance specialists and agency partners, and develop the workflows, culture, and creative standards that attract and retain the talent this brand deserves.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of creative leadership, including hands-on production as well as team and agency management, in a brand, marketing, or design function, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and evolve brand systems, lead multi-channel creative production from concept through execution, and manage creative operations including intake, prioritization, and freelance/agency partnerships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and follow through on commitments.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud and Figma; demonstrated integration of AI creative tools including Firefly, Midjourney, Runway, Sora, Claude, or equivalent; working familiarity with creative operations platforms such as Asana, Workfront, or Miro.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in consumer products, outdoor cooking, retail, dealer/distributor networks, e-commerce, manufacturing, hospitality, events or lifestyle brands.
  • Familiarity with packaging and prepress, design systems, digital asset management (DAM), ecommerce platforms, and marketing analytics tools.
  • Interest in live-fire cooking, outdoor entertaining or the Big Green Egg brand community.
Compensation and Benefits

Big Green Egg offers a competitive benefits package, which may include medical coverage, life insurance, 401(k) match, paid time off, employee discounts, and other benefits based on position type and eligibility. Benefits may vary by location and employment status.
