About This Role:
As the Director of Finance Transformation, you will be at the forefront of Biogen's finance and IT modernization initiatives and the strategic owner of these workstreams within the FP&A organization. This newly created role is pivotal in bridging finance and technology, ensuring that enterprise-wide initiatives such as system enhancements, process automation, and AI-enabled analytics are designed and delivered to advance FP&A's capabilities. You will define what FP&A needs from transformation efforts, influence cross-functional prioritization, and hold stakeholders accountable to finance outcomes. With deep FP&A experience and having lived through major systems implementations, you are energized by the broad scope and opportunity to make a lasting impact on FP&A operations. Your contributions will enhance FP&A's ability to service the business, fitting seamlessly into Biogen's overall business structure.
What You'll Do:
  • Define and maintain a multi-year view of FP&A's technology and process needs, focusing on enterprise data strategy, planning, and reporting architecture.
  • Translate FP&A strategy into actionable requirements across key initiatives including system modernization and reporting evolution.
  • Drive the AI roadmap for FP&A, identifying high-value use cases such as predictive forecasting and automated variance analysis.
  • Represent FP&A in finance system design and modernization efforts, ensuring alignment with operational requirements.
  • Partner with IT and data engineering on the enterprise finance data strategy, embedding FP&A's reporting and analytics needs.
  • Review systems deliverables to ensure they meet FP&A's functional and operational requirements.
  • Monitor finance workstream progress, proactively identifying risks and ensuring milestones are met.
  • Engage thoughtfully with vendor proposals and project roadmaps, evaluating recommendations with technical fluency.
  • Lead the development and integration of FP&A's reporting and visualization capabilities into a scalable environment.
  • Expand analytical capabilities, including tools for outlier detection and predictive forecasting.
  • Communicate transformation priorities clearly to Senior Finance leaders and drive adoption within FP&A through training.

Required Skills:
  • 12+ years of experience in FP&A with expertise in financial planning, forecasting, and management reporting.
  • Direct, hands-on experience in at least one full-cycle ERP or EPM implementation such as Oracle, Workday, SAP, or Anaplan.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML applications in finance such as driver-based forecasting and anomaly detection.
  • Ability to translate finance and technology requirements, write functional requirements, and review data models.
  • Experience in a matrixed environment working with IT, business leaders, shared services, and external vendors.
  • Proven track record of operating at a senior stakeholder level with credibility and influence.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

Preferred Skills:
  • Background in biopharma, life sciences, or healthcare.
  • Familiarity with modern data infrastructure concepts such as data warehouses and BI tooling.
  • MBA or CPA.

Additional Information
The base compensation range for this role is: $188,000.00-$259,000.00
Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
Regular employees are eligible to receive both short term and long-term incentives, including cash bonus and equity incentive opportunities, designed to reward recent achievements and recognize your future potential based on individual, business unit and company performance.
