What are 'founding team' members in a startup?

The founding team of a startup refers to the original group of individuals who come together to create and launch a new company. These members are typically responsible for shaping the business idea, setting the initial vision, and building the foundational structure of the organization. Founding team members often include the co-founders and may cover key roles like CEO, CTO, or CMO, depending on the startup’s needs. Their contributions are crucial in securing early funding, making strategic decisions, and establishing the company culture. The success of a startup often hinges on the skills, dedication, and chemistry of the founding team.

What are some unique challenges members of a founding team typically face in the early stages of a startup?

Members of a founding team often face the challenge of wearing multiple hats, meaning they may need to handle diverse responsibilities ranging from product development to marketing and operations. The pace is fast, and priorities can shift quickly as the business adapts to feedback and changing market conditions. Founders also need to be comfortable with ambiguity and resource constraints, collaborating closely with each other to make critical decisions with limited information. Strong communication and trust within the team are essential for overcoming these hurdles and driving the company forward.

Myo is coming to Manhattan Beach in Fall 2026, and we're intentionally building our founding team from the ground up. We're starting conversations early to bring together a high-caliber group of clinicians who want to help define the standard, shape the culture, and introduce the Myo experience to the community from day one.
As a founding clinician, you'll play a key role in establishing the clinical standard, client experience, and team culture at our newest Los Angeles clinic.
Located in a vibrant and active community, the clinic will serve surfers, runners, athletes, professionals, and families who value movement, performance, longevity, and proactive healthcare.
Myo is modern physical therapy designed to FutureProof the body.
Our mission is to raise body IQ globally by helping people move better, understand their bodies, and take a more proactive approach to their health.
Our care model is built around a 5-phase FutureProof Framework:
  1. Decrease Pain
  2. Align & Repair
  3. Learn How to Move
  4. Build Strength
  5. Move With Purpose.

We believe pain relief is only the beginning. Our goal is to help clients create lasting functional change and to give clinicians a clear framework to deliver care with confidence and purpose.
Why Myo?
At Myo, clinicians get the time, structure, and support to do meaningful work.
Mentorship & Growth

  • Advance your clinical reasoning, client communication, caseload development, and business skills through on-shift coaching and mentorship, reinforced by ongoing education, clinical workshops, and peer learning opportunities.

Premium 1:1 Care
  • Treat fewer than 8 clients per day in a true one-on-one care model.
  • Work with engaged clients focused on movement, performance, and proactive care.
  • Practice in a collaborative clinical environment with ongoing case discussions and peer learning.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive total compensation combining base salary with a performance-based fee split, scaled to experience, clinical performance, and alignment with Myo's core values.
  • Employer-paid health, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401(k) matching.
  • Paid time off, including PTO, sick days, holidays, parental leave top-up, and flexibility for extended time off.
  • $1,000 annual continuing education reimbursement to support continued clinical development.
