Founding Team information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a founding team member, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Founding Team member, you need a blend of entrepreneurial mindset, business acumen, and expertise in your startup’s core industry, often supplemented by advanced degrees or relevant startup experience. Familiarity with tools like financial modeling software, project management platforms, and CRM systems is highly valuable. Exceptional leadership, resilience, adaptability, and strong communication are crucial soft skills that set successful founding teams apart. These skills and qualities are vital for navigating uncertainty, driving innovation, and building a solid foundation for the company’s growth.

What is a founding team?

The founding team of a startup refers to the original group of individuals who come together to create and launch a new company. These members are typically responsible for shaping the business idea, setting the initial vision, and building the foundational structure of the organization. Founding team members often include the co-founders and may cover key roles like CEO, CTO, or CMO, depending on the startup’s needs. Their contributions are crucial in securing early funding, making strategic decisions, and establishing the company culture. The success of a startup often hinges on the skills, dedication, and chemistry of the founding team.

What are some unique challenges members of a founding team typically face in the early stages of a startup?

Members of a founding team often face the challenge of wearing multiple hats, meaning they may need to handle diverse responsibilities ranging from product development to marketing and operations. The pace is fast, and priorities can shift quickly as the business adapts to feedback and changing market conditions. Founders also need to be comfortable with ambiguity and resource constraints, collaborating closely with each other to make critical decisions with limited information. Strong communication and trust within the team are essential for overcoming these hurdles and driving the company forward.

Job description

Frontend Engineer (with familiarity of full stack) (Founding Team)

Location: San Francisco Bay Area
Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Competitive salary + meaningful equity (founding tier)

Backed by 8VC, we're building a world-class team to tackle one of the industry’s most critical infrastructure problems.

About the Role

We’re building an AI-native data platform designed to simplify the most complex workflows in deep industrial use cases. We’re looking for a frontend engineer who’s excited to bring clarity to ambiguity, design to complexity, and elegant user experiences to industrial-grade systems.

You’ll work directly with the founding team to shape and ship intuitive UIs across multi-tenant analytics visualizations, agent interfaces, and workflow tools. If you’ve ever felt that enterprise UIs are bloated, confusing, or inefficient — this is your chance to build something better.

This is an early-stage, high-autonomy role where you’ll contribute to the foundational UX patterns and design language of a next-generation SaaS platform.

Responsibilities
  • Design and build scalable, performant, and accessible frontend components using React and Next.js

  • Implement intuitive, minimal UX for complex backend and AI workflows — including dashboards, agents, approval flows, and multi-tenant admin panels

  • Work closely with backend and data teams to visualize dynamic, high-dimensional data (including time series, lineage, vector search, and agent memory)

  • Contribute to design systems, component libraries, and shared patterns

  • Ship quickly and iterate — from low-fidelity prototypes to fully responsive, production-ready code

What We’re Looking For

Experience:

  • 3–7 years of experience as a frontend or full stack engineer

  • Proficient in React, TypeScript, Next.js, TailwindCSS (or equivalent), experience with AI Agentic stack like langchain, model APIs, model and agentic interfaces is a big plus

  • Comfortable integrating with APIs (REST, GraphQL), streaming endpoints, and real-time data

  • Experience building or contributing to complex dashboards or admin panels

  • Familiar with web accessibility, responsive design, and UX performance best practices

Mindset & Craft:

  • You think deeply about user experience and prefer clarity over flashiness

  • You enjoy simplifying complexity with elegant, maintainable interfaces

  • You value clean abstractions and shareable components over short-term hacks

  • You want to work on tools that solve hard problems for real users

  • You care about visual storytelling, agent interfaces, and helping users trust AI outputs

Bonus Experience:

  • Prior work on B2B platforms, data-intensive applications, or industrial/logistics tooling

  • Experience with Vega or Flourish or React ReChart charting libraries, or D3.js

  • Slack app integrations, Excel/Docs plugins, or workflow UX

  • Familiarity with multi-tenant design patterns, granular RBAC, or policy-based controls

  • Experience with AI Agentic stack like langchain, model APIs, model and agentic interfaces is a big plus

Why Join
  • Early ownership in a technical product with long-term upside

  • Opportunity to define how users interact with complex data and intelligent agents

  • Join a founding team that values design as a first-class citizen, not an afterthought

  • Ship features fast in a low-process, high-trust environment

  • Work on AI-native tooling that blends backend intelligence with frontend usability

If you want to help shape the interface layer of the next generation of intelligent systems — and believe design is a core enabler of AI trust, clarity, and effectiveness — we’d love to hear from you.
