Responsibilities

New York Tech seeks a Director of Recreation and Head Sprint Football Coach to support our growing intramural and club sports activities and lead the sprint football team in its inaugural season.

Reporting to the Associate Provost, Student Engagement and Development, this position will organize a comprehensive recruiting program for the New York Tech Sprint Football program in accordance with University and CSFL policies, rules and regulations. The Head Sprint Football Coach is responsible for the planning, programming, directing, supervising and implementing the duties and functions for the sprint football program.ย  Key responsibilities would include:

  • Provide coaching, leadership, vision and strategic planning for the Sprint Football program.
  • Perform administrative duties that include equipment purchase and management, travel arrangements, community engagement, game day management, etc.
  • In conjunction with the office of admissions, manage and represent the department at admissions open houses, admitted student events, and other events throughout the year.
  • Develop recruitment strategies and activities to secure players for the team, including attending games, meeting with coaches, and correspond with potential players in a timely way.
  • In conjunction with the Associate Provost, develop fundraising programming and opportunities for Sprint football and recreation department.
  • Develop, with staff members in Student Engagement & Development (SE&D), new club and intramural sports programs.
  • Work collaboratively with SE&D staff members in carrying out the administrative functions of club sports and intramural programs to ensure their success.
  • Ensure students are in good academic standing, adhere to the Student Code of Conduct, exhibit superior sportsmanship and set the example for a positive environment at all times.
  • Advise staff and team of CSFL rules and policies and ensure the program is following all rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Supervise all games, scrimmages and practices.
  • Interview and recommend for approval, assistant coaching candidates.
  • Maintain accurate academic, recruiting, financial, practice, expense, and meal records. Complete all required paperwork as necessary.
  • Represent the institution at conferences and meetings as required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

ย Bachelor's degree plus three to four years of effective experience in the coaching field.

Must have a valid driver's license.

Must be available to work evenings, weekends and travel as needed.

Must maintain current CPR, AED, and First Aid Certifications.
