Job description

POSITION TITLE: FOOD SERVER

Food Server/Dietary Aide

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must have current Food Handler’s Permit.
  • Good command of the English language in order to communicate with residents effectively.
  • Able to follow oral as well as written instructions.
  • Must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures ranges.
  • Must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures ranges.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift large serving trays with dishes.
  • Must have neat, clean appearance. Uniform clean, name tag in place, slip free shoes.

SUPERVISED BY:

  • Supervised by the Dining Room Supervisor and the Food Service Director

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Prepares salads and desserts according to menu and service requirements.
  • Knowledge of portion control mastered.
  • Serves food in a friendly, caring manner with service being the primary objective.
  • Prepares room trays.
  • Cleans dining room.
  • Resets dining room for next meal.
  • Maintains work area in a manner consistent with Kasruth (Kosher food laws).
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work center and food storage area Cleans equipment as needed.
  • Re-stocks refrigerator and dry goods each day as needed.
  • Health Care Nourishment request sheets filled and delivered to Nursing Station each shift in a timely manner.
  • Maintains hydration cart on all shifts.
  • Prepares, sets-up and cleans up Special Functions as needed.
  • Dinner Shift – When work is completed in Health Care, report to Supervisor in Retirement Center for additional assignments to ensure that all is completed before clocking out for the day.
  • Any additional tasks assigned by the Food Service Director.
