We're looking for an experienced Leave Management & Systems Specialist who is passionate about compliance, technology, and delivering exceptional client service.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys both leave administration and HR technology. You'll serve as a trusted advisor to clients while also leading system implementations, supporting AbsenceSoft, and helping organizations streamline their leave management processes.

Location: We are seeking on onsite team member in the Albany, NY area whenever possible. For exceptional candidates, we are open to remote employment for individuals residing in Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New Jersey or other locations within New York State.


What You'll Do

Leave Administration & Compliance

  • Serve as the primary contact for employees, managers, and HR representatives regarding leave requests and accommodations.
  • Administer the full lifecycle of employee leaves, including:
    • Family and Medical Leave (FMLA)
    • Paid Family Leave (PFL)
    • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accommodations
    • Short-Term and Long-Term Disability
    • Workers' Compensation
    • Company leave programs
  • Determine eligibility, provide required notices, review documentation, and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
  • Guide clients on how leave laws interact with PTO, disability benefits, workers' compensation, and company policies.
  • Maintain communication with employees throughout leave periods and coordinate return-to-work processes.
  • Partner with insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and state agencies regarding claims and leave administration.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records and documentation.
  • Stay current on legislative and regulatory changes affecting leave administration.

HR Technology & Systems Support

  • Lead implementations of leave management software, including project planning, client onboarding, and timelines.
  • Configure and customize AbsenceSoft and related systems based on client needs.
  • Support integrations between leave management platforms, HRIS, payroll, and other business systems.
  • Troubleshoot technical and configuration issues through phone, email, virtual meetings, and support tickets.
  • Perform system testing, validation, and quality assurance during implementations and upgrades.
  • Develop user guides, documentation, and training materials.
  • Deliver client and end-user training on system functionality and best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes through automation and technology.

Client Partnership

  • Build trusted relationships by providing responsive, knowledgeable service.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, payroll professionals, HR leaders, and technology partners to resolve complex issues.
  • Communicate effectively regarding leave status, compliance, and system updates.
  • Continuously develop expertise in leave management and HR technology.
  • What We're Looking For
  • We're looking for someone who combines strong HR compliance knowledge with excellent technical aptitude and a passion for helping clients succeed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3-5+ years of experience in leave management, HR compliance, HR technology, client support, or a related field.
  • Experience administering leave programs across multiple states.
  • Strong understanding of FMLA, ADA, Paid Family Leave, disability programs, workers' compensation, and related regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
  • Experience with HRIS, payroll, case management, or leave management systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AbsenceSoft or similar leave management platforms.
  • Professional certification such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, CLMS, or another leave management certification.
