What we are looking for:

The Benefits & Leave Manager oversees the day‑to‑day administration of all employee benefits and leave programs, ensuring accurate processing, exceptional employee support, and strong data integrity across HRIS and vendor systems. As the organization’s primary benefits subject‑matter expert, this role manages technical operations, reporting, compliance, and vendor coordination while driving operational excellence and a best‑in‑class employee experience under the guidance of the Chief People Officer.


What you'll do:

  • Manage daily benefits operations, including enrollments, life events, terminations, COBRA, disability, and retirement transactions.

  • Administer all leave programs (FMLA, state, personal, disability, military) with accurate tracking, documentation, and employee communication.

  • Serve as the primary expert for benefits and leave questions, eligibility, coverage issues, and claim resolution.

  • Maintain and update benefits data in HRIS and vendor systems, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.

  • Oversee eligibility files, deductions, premiums, and partner with vendors to resolve issues.

  • Generate and review reports, audits, and reconciliations to ensure correct billing and enrollment data.

  • Ensure all benefits and leave processes meet ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA, and other regulatory standards.

  • Lead annual open enrollment setup, testing, materials, and employee support.

  • Other duties as assigned.

It’ll help to have/be:

  • Meticulous, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

  • Strong ability to assess issues, identify root causes, and determine effective next steps.

  • Skilled with HRIS, benefits systems, file feeds, and data auditing.

  • Solid understanding of ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA, and other compliance requirements.

  • Navigates sensitive employee situations with confidentiality, empathy, and a solutions‑oriented mindset.


Qualifications/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on benefits and leave administration experience

  • Strong technical experience with HRIS and benefits systems (ADP WorkforceNow a plus)

  • Proficiency with Microsoft and Google productivity tools

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without restriction. We will not sponsor applicants for work visas.


Work environment and physical requirements:

Work is primarily performed in an office environment Physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking, and bending. Infrequent visits to medical offices with possible exposure to procedure/exam room and laboratory environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, biohazards or toxic substances.
