Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
Journeyperson Electricians possess the full range of knowledge required to install, connect, test, and maintain electrical systems for a variety of purposes, including climate control, security, lighting, power sources and communications. With shops in Calgary, Fort Saskatchewan, Bonnyville, and Saskatoon, the E amp;I team works on local projects as well as site projects located throughout Western Canada.
Employees are expected to support and participate in a “culture of safety” and adhere to and be ambassadors of Strike’s Code of Conduct and Values, and to treat others with dignity, respect, and fairness.

POSITION DETAILS
  • Fly-In Fly-Out 14/14 or 7/7 shift
  • 11 hour days – 0600-1730 with occasional work outside normal hours as required.
  • Moderate physical ability is required
  • Travel allowance may be available for eligible candidates based on their location.
  • Candidates are responsible for arranging and providing their own transportation to and from the designated departure airport.
  • Journeyperson rate: $48/hr.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) designation or willing to take the training.
  • Experience working on high-voltage electrical systems and mobile equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a mining environment and remote northern camp operations.
  • Comfortable working in a fly-in/fly-out camp environment.
  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience working on a broad range of industrial equipment.
  • Strong computer skills; SAP experience is considered an asset.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Perform routine and emergency electrical maintenance on plant and site equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical faults in motors, controls, instrumentation, and high-voltage electrical systems.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and restore power safely and efficiently.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance (PMs) as scheduled.
  • Work on motor control centers (MCCs), VFDs, starters, switchgear, and mobile equipment as required.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, drawings, technical manuals, complete diagnosis, corrective actions, and work order documentation.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and shift reports.
  • Communicate effectively with operators, supervisors, and millwrights regarding equipment status.
  • Follow all site safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), permits, hazard assessments, and health and safety standards.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas and electrical panels.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and contribute effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to work safely, independently, and as part of a team while adhering to all site safety standards, policies, and procedures.
