Job description

Overview
Reporting to the Regional Vice President the Fleet Supervisor is responsible to track all fleet within a pool. They need to work with the garage manager to identify the movement of buses from vendors and out of circulation buses and bring them back to the garage. The fleet supervisor needs to identify buses to be put on circulations that will achieve PMI compliance. The Fleet supervisor will also need to be an integral part of the operating garage.
Responsibilities
  • Track equipment that's out of the area
  • Check maintenance equipment that's out of the area
  • Be able to assign buses to the proper circulation
  • Truly understand how the circulations work
  • Know what off pool buses you have on hand
  • Monitor the road failure report and keep maintenance supervisors aware to investigate
  • Monitor equipment for PMI's to either route or deadhead buses according to bus mileage
  • Check and add deadheads to the recap
  • Access areas that may need an extra pool bus
  • Compare equipment for accuracy
  • Be able to switch equipment in the middle of the run
  • Check the boards for the area to address concerns
  • Plan manpower when needed for work and deadheads
  • Keep registers clean to ensure drivers are in proper locations
  • Manage dispatch schedule and ensure coverage for call off's and vacations
  • Train supervisors to dispatch

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation management, or business is a plus.
  • Several years of experience in fleet management or a related field, including supervising drivers or managing transportation operations.
  • Familiarity with vehicle maintenance schedules, repair processes, and identifying mechanical issues.
  • Strong supervisory abilities to manage drivers and ensure adherence to policies and standards.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with drivers, management, and external vendors.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot issues related to fleet operations, such as vehicle breakdowns or delays.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and track various aspects of fleet operations (e.g., vehicle maintenance, driver performance, scheduling).
  • Familiarity with transportation laws and regulations, including safety standards and compliance requirements.
