Job description

Support Center - IrvingThe Fixed Asset (FA) Accountant supports theSenior Accountant - FA Supervisor inensuring the data integrity of the sub-ledger.The FA Accountant also prepares statistical and analytical work papers for internal and external parties. This position ensures the maintenance of, and adherence to, existing controls, policies, and procedures for accurate and complete financial statements and the sustainment of our Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

Major Activities

  • Proactively communicate with internal and external business partners.
  • Collaborate with contacts in IT group to accurately capitalize project expenditures upon completion.
  • Reconcile and analyze various Capital Projects and actively research discrepancies.
  • Prepare analytical work papers including Corporate Tax schedules, audit schedules, monthly variance schedules, and roll-forwards.
  • Seek out process improvements and/or controls that increase efficiency and improve accuracy.
  • Answer store financial questions for assigned districts.
  • Perform analysis on asset base and coordinate with business partners on the transfer/retirement of assets.
  • Review the coding of capital expenditure invoices and transfer/retirement batches and assist in the processing of invoices during high volume periods.
  • Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts; analyze increases/decreases in asset levels.
  • Perform monthly journal entries including accruals, re-classes, and adjustments.
  • Research and resolve FA Clearing Account balances.
  • Special projects as assigned, including testing of the Oracle Projects module and Oracle Fixed Asset Module.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting

Preferred Education

  • Master of Accountancy

Minimum Special Certifications or technical skills

  • Proficient in Excel

Minimum Type of experience the job requires

  • 0 to 2 years of accounting experience
  • Exposure to U.S. GAAP and SOX

Preferred Special Certifications or technical skills

  • CPA or CMA preferred

Preferred Type of experience the job requires

  • Experience with Oracle Financials or other large ERP desired
